Job description
This position works under the direction of the building administrator. In addition, Secondary Librarians will work with the library paras to support the library in the absence of a Librarian. This position is responsible for assisting in the libraries at both Central Middle School and Irving Elementary to provide an efficient and effective library environment for students by providing assistance with checking out books, reshelving books and supporting the library space. This position is also responsible for monitoring, redirecting students to support academic progress, providing supervision of students, and performing a variety of clerical duties as assigned.
This position is split between Central Middle School, Hoover Middle School, and George Washington Carver Academy. The primary location of the three buildings will be Central Middle School.

Hiring SpecificationsEducation:
- High school diploma or equivalency
- NCLB compliance – 60 college credit hours, associate's degree, generalist or specialist para educator license issued by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners OR successful completion of the district-approved competency test

- Assists in providing instruction to individuals or small groups of students, reinforcing instruction as directed by the teacher.
