Join a Growing Civil Engineering Team

Our client is seeking an experienced Civil CAD Drafter with a background in land development to join their growing engineering team in Midland, Texas.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys preparing civil engineering plans for residential, commercial, municipal, and industrial developments and wants the opportunity to grow into additional design responsibilities alongside an experienced team of civil engineers.

This is a land development role focused on civil site design—not structural building design or BIM modeling.


What You'll Do

As a Civil CAD Drafter, you'll support a variety of land development projects from concept through construction documentation by preparing accurate and detailed engineering drawings.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare civil engineering drawings for residential, commercial, municipal, and industrial land development projects.
  • Develop grading, drainage, paving, utility, and stormwater management plans.
  • Produce plan and profile sheets, cross sections, construction details, and site layouts.
  • Prepare drawings for roads, water systems, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and other civil infrastructure improvements.
  • Read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, survey data, and construction documents.
  • Collaborate closely with Civil Engineers throughout the design process.
  • Revise drawings based on engineering markups and client comments.
  • Maintain drawing standards while ensuring projects are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Continue developing technical design skills while learning company drafting standards and best practices.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Civil CAD drafting experience.
  • Experience working on land development or civil site development projects.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD.
  • Experience producing grading, drainage, utility, paving, and site development plans.
  • Ability to prepare profiles, cross sections, plan & profile sheets, and construction details.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering drawings and construction documents.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Carlson software experience.
  • Civil Engineering Technology degree, drafting degree, or related education.
  • Experience supporting residential subdivisions, commercial developments, municipal infrastructure, or industrial site development.
