Corporate Controller

Position Summary:

L&M Supply, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Corporate Controller to serve as a key member of the Finance leadership team and chief accounting officer. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this role is responsible for financial reporting integrity, internal controls, treasury management, and external audit/tax relationships.

The Corporate Controller will also lead budgeting and financial planning efforts, providing strategic insights that support executive decision-making and company growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Close
  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP
  • Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting packages
  • Maintain and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and chart of accounts
Audit, Tax & External Relationships
  • Act as primary liaison with external CPA firm for audits and tax compliance
  • Manage audit preparation, PBC schedules, and documentation
  • Oversee multi-state tax compliance (income, sales/use, payroll, property)
  • Monitor FASB updates and communicate accounting impacts
Treasury & Cash Management
  • Manage line of credit, lender reporting, and covenant compliance
  • Oversee cash flow forecasting and liquidity management
  • Maintain banking relationships and payment controls
  • Optimize working capital (A/R, A/P, inventory strategies)
Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Design and oversee internal control framework and accounting SOPs
  • Conduct internal audits and implement process improvements
  • Ensure regulatory compliance across all financial operations
  • Maintain appropriate system access and segregation of duties
Budgeting & Financial Planning
  • Lead annual budgeting process across departments
  • Drive financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario analysis
  • Provide budget-to-actual reporting with actionable insights
  • Support executive, board, and lender reporting
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop Accounting and Finance team members
  • Set performance expectations and ensure accountability
  • Build a scalable, high-performing finance organization
Qualifications:Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA preferred (active or inactive)
  • 8 to 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
  • 3+ years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role
  • Experience with audit/tax engagements and external CPA firms
  • Treasury and cash management experience required
  • Multi-entity or multi-location experience preferred
  • Proven leadership experience
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics preferred)
  • Expertise in internal controls and process improvement
  • Advanced financial modeling and budgeting skills
