Job description

Primary responsibilities:

  • Assist in organizing and maintaining broadcast media asset archives, including video, audio, photographs, and digital files.  
  • Apply rigorous standardized metadata schemes to all raw data and finished product 
  • Support Tracking real time capacity consumption across SAN and NAS 
  • Oversees scheduled incoming feeds, fiber transmissions and digital contributions to assure reliable capture. 
  • Monitor automated file watchers for correct file transfer 
  • Perform spot QCs on ingest files 
  • Assist in Managing Proxy file generation  
  • Catalog and enter media asset information into archive and media management systems.  
  • Retrieve archived materials in response to requests from production, editorial, and communications staff.  
  • Assist with digitization, file conversion, and preservation of legacy media formats.  
  • Verify the accuracy of metadata and archive records to support efficient content retrieval.  
  • Perform routine quality checks on archived content and storage systems.  
  • Label, sort, and store physical and digital media according to established procedures.  
  • Maintain archive inventories and assist with records management activities.  
  • Support the transfer, backup, and storage of media assets. 
  • Logs and conducts data entry and other functions connected with VOA’s digital asset management system  
  • Researches, gathers, and logs video and audio feeds  
  • Works with supervisor to be familiar with the latest/new technology  
  • Operates computers  
  • Completes tasks accurately and independently prior to deadline, in accordance with  production priorities  
  • Functions as effective member of a team  
  • Other related duties as assigned
