Job description

CARGO OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR (JFK Airport)
Starting Pay: $27.50/hr.


JOB DUTIES:

  • Manage daily warehouse and cargo operations activities during assigned shifts.
  • Coordinate cargo handling processes, including warehouse build-up and breakdown activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, operational procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Supervise, coach, train, and support team members to achieve operational goals.
  • Conduct on-the-job, customer-specific, and recurrent training for assigned employees.
  • Monitor operational performance and address workflow issues to maintain service standards.
  • Review staffing assignments and allocate resources to meet daily operational objectives.
  • Maintain operational records, reports, correspondence, and documentation.
  • Coordinate activities with internal departments to ensure efficient customer service.
  • Support cargo handling operations involving international shipments and customs documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to workplace safety, security, and quality standards.
  • Participate in audits and operational reviews to maintain compliance and continuity.
  • Monitor implementation of site-specific operational and security procedures.
  • Assist with aircraft load planning and weight and balance processes as required.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, stakeholders, and team members regarding operational matters.
  • Analyze operational issues, gather information, and develop appropriate solutions.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Two to five years of supervisory, management, or related operational experience.
  • College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of cargo, warehouse, airline, logistics, or transportation operations.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret operational manuals, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence, and procedural documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Familiarity with computer software and operational management systems.
  • Understanding of international cargo handling and customs documentation processes preferred.
  • Knowledge of airline operations, load planning, or related industry practices preferred.
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and varying schedules as needed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
