Quality Coordinator (AWS/CWI) 3

Location: Georgia Power Hydro Sites – Bartlett's Ferry (Salem, AL) | Oliver Dam (Columbus, GA) | Nacoochee Dam (Lakemont, GA) Client: Georgia Power Contract: 3 Year Work Type: In-Person (Travel required between multiple hydro sites)

Position Overview

The Quality Coordinator (AWS/CWI) 3 will serve as the Site Construction Quality Lead and may be filled as a QCA2 or QCA3, depending on the candidate's experience level. This role supports Georgia Power's Hydro Modernization Program, ensuring construction activities across multiple hydro facilities meet all applicable codes, standards, and quality requirements.

The successful candidate will work closely with project management, engineering, and construction teams to ensure that quality assurance and control processes are implemented effectively. Frequent travel between hydro sites will be required.

AMPP/NACE certification is a plus. CWI/AWS certification and 10+ years of quality oversight experience (or a 4-year degree in a related field) are required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Management with the development and implementation of project quality plans.
  • Provide oversight of onsite contractors to ensure all work complies with specifications, standards, and quality requirements.
  • Assist with the development and documentation of site-specific procedures and guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain surveillance schedules to monitor project quality performance.
  • Perform quality surveillances and inspections to ensure adherence to applicable codes and standards.
  • Review Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and ensure compliance with project-specific requirements.
  • Support construction teams with preventive maintenance and quality documentation.
  • Participate in pre-bid, pre-mobilization, and contractor meetings to ensure alignment on project quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with Project and Construction Management to manage and improve overall project quality outcomes.

Skills & Expertise

  • Self-starter, proactive, and detail-oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Proficient in weld inspection, mapping, and documentation.
  • Ability to perform and document quality surveillances on site construction activities.
  • Familiar with hold points and witness points in quality inspection processes.
  • Strong working knowledge of ASME, AWS, ANSI, ASTM, ACI, and related standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical standards.
  • Capable of functioning independently or within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance in all phases of construction.
