Job description

Valley Fab Corp., located in Brooks, Oregon, is a leader in structural steel and metal building construction. As a Structural Steel Construction Lead, you will play a vital role in overseeing field operations and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This is a hands-on leadership position, ideal for someone with a strong background in steel construction who is ready to guide crews, coordinate with project stakeholders, and deliver exceptional results. Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise field crews on structural steel and metal building construction projects.
  • Coordinate daily jobsite activities to maintain safety, productivity, and project schedules.
  • Read and interpret structural drawings, erection plans, and construction specifications.
  • Oversee steel erection, framing, roofing, siding, insulation, trim, and related construction tasks.
  • Ensure all work meets project plans, specifications, and Valley Fab Corp. quality standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, general contractors, and customers.
  • Monitor project progress and communicate any schedule changes or field issues.
  • Identify and resolve problems in the field with practical solutions.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized jobsite at all times.
  • Conduct and participate in jobsite safety meetings.
  • Inspect completed work and ensure any deficiencies are addressed promptly.
  • Assist with coordinating materials, tools, equipment, and manpower needs.
  • Provide leadership, training, and direction to crew members.
  • Travel to project sites throughout Oregon and the surrounding region as required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in steel, metal building, commercial, or industrial construction.
  • Previous experience as a foreman, lead, superintendent, or crew leader is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of steel erection and metal building construction practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Solid understanding of jobsite safety protocols and construction best practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot construction issues and make sound field decisions.
  • Comfortable working at heights and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform physical construction work, including lifting, carrying, and climbing as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
Compensation

$35–$45 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Opportunities for overtime are available.
