Are you ready to take your career to the next level with a forward-thinking, Native American-owned multi-disciplinary consulting firm? Akana is seeking a Construction Inspector II to join our team.
We're committed to sustainable solutions and strong community ties, and we're looking for someone who shares that vision.
As a Construction Inspector, you will support transportation and public works projects by monitoring on-site activities and materials to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and contract documents. You will perform field measurements, track contractor production, and prepare clear, accurate inspection reports while coordinating with contractors and project personnel.
This role supports project quality, accuracy, and final documentation, reporting to both the Project Managers and Construction Managers.
Requirements
What You Will Do (general responsibilities) for this position are shown below:
• Observe and document contractor operations to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and contract requirements.
• Prepare complete and accurate Inspector Daily Reports (IDRs) including quantities, labor/equipment, weather, and site conditions.
• Maintain field notes, photographs, and supporting documentation for pay items
• Track and verify quantity tickets, field records, force account reports, and materials on hand.
Following skills are preferable:
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician certification.
• WSDOT or ODOT construction inspection certifications.
• ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) or Traffic Control Technician (TCT).
• Experience working on transportation or DOT-funded projects.
• Review certified payrolls and verify prevailing wage compliance.
• Inspect traffic control setups per approved TCP Plans.
• Document construction signing, lane closures, and any incidents or near misses.
• Maintain current contract documentation, including plans, schedules, subcontractors, and change orders.
• Assist with the preparation of monthly progress estimates by ensuring documentation is complete and auditable.
• Verify material approvals, QPL references, and Record of Materials (ROM) requirements.
• Monitor subcontractor participation and assist with compliance reviews as required.
• Communicate daily with the Resident Engineer, Office Engineer, Documentation Specialist, and contractor field staff.
• Support project closeout activities including as-built documentation and final records.
Minimum Required Key Qualifications for this position are shown below:
• 5+ years of construction inspection experience (transportation or public works preferred).
• Familiarity with construction documentation requirements, including Inspector Daily Reports, field notes, Record of Materials, and source documentation.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and traffic control plans.
• Strong written documentation skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Unifier or similar construction documentation systems is a plus.
• Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Ability to obtain required certifications and pass qualification tests within specified timeframes.
