Location: Coast Seattle Downtown Hotel by APA
Reports To: Executive Housekeeper / Housekeeping Manager
Department: Housekeeping

Position Summary

The Room Inspector plays a vital role in ensuring Coast Hotels' standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest readiness are consistently achieved. This position is responsible for inspecting guestrooms, public areas, and housekeeping operations to ensure quality standards are met prior to guest occupancy.

Working closely with the Housekeeping leadership team, the Room Inspector provides daily operational support by coordinating room assignments, monitoring housekeeping productivity, coaching team members, maintaining linen inventories, and ensuring effective communication between Housekeeping, Front Office, and Maintenance. The Room Inspector contributes to exceptional guest satisfaction through attention to detail, quality assurance, and a commitment to service excellence.

Key ResponsibilitiesGuestroom Inspection & Quality Assurance
  • Inspect cleaned guestrooms and bathrooms to ensure compliance with Coast Hotels' cleanliness and presentation standards.
  • Verify that beds are properly made and that linens are clean, undamaged, and free of stains.
  • Ensure bathrooms are properly sanitized, stocked, and in good working order.
  • Verify that guestroom amenities, supplies, and furnishings are properly arranged and fully stocked.
  • Inspect furniture, flooring, windows, mirrors, lighting, appliances, and other room features for cleanliness and functionality.
  • Return guestrooms that do not meet quality standards for corrective action and follow up to ensure completion.
  • Address and follow up on room-related guest concerns and service recovery opportunities.
Housekeeping Operations & Coordination
  • Open and prepare the Housekeeping department for daily operations.
  • Review occupancy forecasts, arrivals, departures, stayovers, vacant-dirty rooms, and special requests.
  • Prepare and maintain daily housekeeping assignments and staffing boards.
  • Distribute room assignments, keys, communication devices, and supplies to team members.
  • Conduct daily housekeeping briefings and communicate operational priorities.
  • Update room statuses accurately and communicate room readiness with the Front Desk team.
  • Assist Housekeeping leadership with the daily operation of the department as required.
Linen, Inventory & Facility Standards
  • Inspect housekeeping carts, storage rooms, linen closets, hallways, and public areas to ensure organization and cleanliness.
  • Monitor linen usage and maintain organized linen storage areas.
  • Conduct and document monthly linen inventories.
  • Monitor inventory levels and identify shortages, damage, loss, or opportunities for improved inventory control.
  • Communicate supply and linen requirements to Housekeeping leadership.
  • Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, damaged equipment, and missing items promptly.
Training & Team Support
  • Support the training and development of Room Attendants by reinforcing cleaning standards and procedures.
  • Provide constructive coaching and feedback to maintain consistent quality standards.
  • Assist in fostering a positive, collaborative, and accountable work environment.
  • Support departmental goals and continuous improvement initiatives.
Administrative & Compliance Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and departmental documentation.
  • Ensure all room assignments, unresolved issues, and operational updates are properly communicated and documented.
  • Collect and account for departmental equipment, keys, radios, and supplies at the end of each shift.
  • Assist with closing and securing the Housekeeping department at the end of the day.
  • Follow all hotel policies, safety procedures, sanitation standards, security protocols, union requirements, and lost-and-found procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
