B Shift: 6am - 6pm ET

Essential Function:

In this hands-on position, you'll be at the heart of our commitment to excellence - conducting inspections and tests to guarantee every item meets the highest customer and internal quality standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspections on parts and compare to known specifications.
  • Understand and be able to complete all documentation requirements for inspections as performed.
  • Read and understand work instructions to determine procedure for testing.
  • Know and understand specification criteria prior to performing inspection functions.
  • Commit to ongoing development and competence of job functions.
  • Attend Train the Trainer classes and train incoming inspectors.
  • Effectively communicate information at shift change.
  • Ability to troubleshoot QA equipment and know who to contact when there are issues.
  • Perform inspections at Subcontract station following Visual Inspection, Inspection Plans and Work Instructions.
  • Must be able to shut down and restart all machines.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of Silfex Quality Management System and properly apply Quality and Operating Procedures as appropriate.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and order of inspection and test stations.
  • Report any unsafe conditions to Silfex management, including the Manufacturing Manager, and/or Director of Manufacturing.
  • Assist in applying lean manufacturing concepts and 5S.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Assist in applying lean manufacturing concepts and 5S. Demonstrate ownership of continuous improvement ideas and activities. Maintain organization and cleanliness, housekeeping and 5S within work area. Maintain these areas at the highest degree possible while responsibly escalating any maintenance issues.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High School Diploma or a General Education Degree (GED) required
  • 2 - 4 years of previous manufacturing Quality Assurance experience or relevant experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of inspection criteria
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Must possess basic proficiency in operating computers, including navigating software and web-based platform
  • Strong shop math skills
  • Work effectively as an individual and in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail is required
  • Quality and safety minded
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to perform successfully under supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and application of appropriate Quality Procedures and Operating Procedures.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of 5S and Lean manufacturing.
  • Microsoft Office experience (specifically Excel).
  • Capable of applying and teaching standard practices and techniques within their work.

Physical Demands:
