Job description

This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on patient care by shaping the skills, confidence, and success of frontline phlebotomy staff. In this role, you will lead the training and development of new inpatient phlebotomists and PCT staff, ensuring excellence in specimen collection practices and blood draw techniques. As a champion for quality, you will drive improvements in critical laboratory metrics, including blood culture contamination rates, blood banding accuracy, and specimen integrity. Through hands-on coaching, mentorship, and ongoing support, you will help team members strengthen their skills, improve performance, and deliver high-quality patient care. This position offers a unique blend of education, leadership, and clinical practice, allowing you to directly influence both staff development and laboratory quality outcomes.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Previous phlebotomy experience required.
  • Graduate of a certified phlebotomy program required.
  • Associate's degree as a Medical Assistant or other hospital related field required.
  • Minimum of five years' relevant experience in a medical/clinical office setting required.
  • Certified as a Clinical Laboratory Assistant by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) Required. Certified as a Phlebotomist by the ASCP or National Phlebotomy Association (NPA) required.
  • Certified as a Clinical Laboratory Assistant by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) preferred.
  • Certified as a Phlebotomist by the ASCP or National Phlebotomy Association (NPA) preferred.
