A specialty pharmacy is launching a new location in Lufkin, TX, seeking a Pharmacist In Charge to lead the build-out, regulatory compliance, and daily operations. This direct hire role offers the opportunity to oversee all aspects of the pharmacy’s opening and ongoing management while working closely with specialty care clinics to optimize patient outcomes.
Responsibilities include ensuring full compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, managing licensure and controlled substance protocols, and overseeing pharmacy operations for accuracy and safety. The role requires collaboration with providers for coordinated patient care, formulary management, and resolving medication issues. You will also supervise and train staff, lead audits, manage inventory, and participate in strategic planning to support growth. As the clinical expert, you will support patient counseling, prior authorization reviews, and workflow management from prescription receipt to dispensing.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Licensed pharmacist (PharmD or equivalent) with an active, unrestricted license eligible for PIC designation in Texas
- Prior Pharmacist In Charge or Pharmacy Manager experience required
- Demonstrated knowledge of outpatient/retail specialty pharmacy operations (inpatient pharmacy background not applicable)
- Experience with pharmacy regulatory agencies, insurance contract onboarding, and accreditation processes
- Proficient with pharmacy software (QS1, ComputerRx, PioneerRx, WAM, etc.); familiarity with EMR and specialty pharmacy systems is a plus
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clinical teams and assist providers with appeal letters
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a start-up environment, creating workflows and resolving complex problems

- Monday through Friday, hours to be determined
