Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Pharmacist-in-Charge
(PIC) to lead all pharmacy compliance, regulatory, and operational oversight for our
pharmaceutical distribution business.
This role is critical to ensuring we operates in full compliance with all federal,
state, and international pharmaceutical regulations while supporting the continued
growth of our distribution network across the United States and more than 70
international markets.
The Pharmacist-in-Charge will serve as the designated pharmacist responsible for
all DEA registrations, state pharmacy licenses, and regulatory oversight, ensuring
that we maintain the highest standards of compliance, safety, and operational
excellence.
Beyond regulatory responsibilities, this position requires a business-minded
pharmacist who understands pharmaceutical supply chains and can help scale a fast-
growing pharmaceutical distribution company. The ideal candidate will bring strong
specialty drug knowledge, experience with controlled substances, and the ability to
collaborate with leadership on strategic initiatives.
This role works closely with executive leadership, including the Chief Commercial
Officer, CEO, and operations teams, to support compliant growth in both domestic
and international pharmaceutical distribution.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance Leadership
• Serve as the Pharmacist-in-Charge for company, responsible for all pharmacy
operations and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain and oversee DEA registration, state pharmacy licenses, wholesaler
licenses, and regulatory filings.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations including:
o DEA
o FDA
o State Boards of Pharmacy
o DSCSA requirements
o Controlled substance regulations
• Maintain all controlled substance policies, procedures, and documentation.
• Oversee controlled drug inventories, ordering, storage, and recordkeeping.
• Ensure proper documentation and regulatory compliance for domestic and
international pharmaceutical shipments.
• Prepare and manage documentation required for pharmacy inspections and
regulatory audits.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for DEA, FDA, and state regulatory
authorities.
• Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for pharmacy
operations and compliance.
Pharmaceutical Operations
• Oversee all pharmacy-related operational processes including:
o Controlled substance management
o Specialty pharmaceutical handling
o Cold chain products
o Product verification and sourcing
• Provide guidance on specialty drugs, biologics, oncology products, and
high-cost therapies.
• Ensure all pharmaceutical products are handled, stored, and distributed
according to regulatory requirements.
• Support procurement and sales teams with drug information, regulatory
considerations, and compliance requirements.
• Review and approve processes related to pharmaceutical sourcing and
distribution.
International Distribution Oversight
• Ensure compliance with international pharmaceutical export regulations.
• Support documentation requirements for shipments to international customers
including:
o Export compliance
o Controlled drug export documentation
o Regulatory requirements by destination country
• Work closely with logistics and procurement teams to ensure shipments
meet regulatory and licensing requirements.
Business Strategic Leadership
• Partner with executive leadership to help scale our pharmaceutical
distribution platform.
• Provide regulatory guidance on new product categories, including:
o Specialty pharmaceuticals
o Oncology drugs
o Rare disease medications
o Controlled substances
• Assist in evaluating new supplier relationships and product sourcing
opportunities.
• Help build scalable compliance infrastructure as the company grows.
• Support licensing expansion into additional states and international markets.
SOP Process Development
• Build and maintain pharmacy compliance SOPs.
• Ensure all employees are trained on pharmacy compliance procedures.
• Work with leadership to improve operational efficiency while maintaining
regulatory compliance.
• Assist with ERP system compliance integration and documentation
standards.
Qualifications
Required
• PharmD or RPh degree from an accredited pharmacy school
• Active North Carolina Pharmacist License
• Eligible to serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge
• Willing to serve as the designated pharmacist on DEA registrations and state
licenses
• Minimum 5 years pharmacy experience
• Experience with controlled substances and regulatory compliance
Preferred
• Experience working with:
o Pharmaceutical distributors
o Specialty drug supply chains
o Export pharmaceutical operations
o International drug distribution
• Familiarity with:
o DSCSA
o FDA wholesale distribution regulations
o DEA compliance
• Experience supporting fast-growing pharmaceutical businesses
