The Hoofstock Team manages one of the most diverse and exciting animal collections at the park-including one of the largest giraffe herds in the U.S., Indian rhinos, pygmy hippos, okapi, springbok, and a wide variety of primates like mandrills, gibbons, lemurs, and more. This dedicated team is committed to exceptional animal care, strong team dynamics, and continuous growth through open communication and shared goals.

What You'll Do
  • Provide daily care for a variety of animal species, including feeding, cleaning, enrichment, and monitoring health and behavior.
  • Participate in animal training and behavioral husbandry to support welfare and cooperative care.
  • Maintain accurate records of animal observations, treatments, and daily activities using the park's management software.
  • Assist with the preparation and implementation of enrichment programs that stimulate natural behaviors and promote mental well-being.
  • Support and participate in conservation, breeding, and research initiatives as directed by the Care Team.
  • Collaborate closely with the veterinary team by assisting with medical exams, treatments, and implementing health protocols.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized animal habitats and workspaces.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and training to enhance your skills and knowledge.

What You Bring
  • A combination of formal education (e.g., degree or coursework in zoology, biology, animal science, or related field) and hands-on experience working with exotic or domestic animals in a zoological, aquarium, sanctuary or equivalent setting that demonstrates the necessary skills for this position
  • Excellent public speaking and customer service skills
  • Desire to grow as a team member, animal keeper, and human being
  • Ability to stand or walk and be able to perform physical work outside in all weather conditions
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and lift 50-75 pounds when necessary
  • Ability to work long hours, weekend, weekdays, holidays, and everyday
