Position Summary
This is a tenure-track faculty position within the Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, at the Indiana University (IU) School of Medicine in Indianapolis, IN. The ID Division, under the direction of Dr. Samir Gupta, is currently recruiting a tenure track faculty at the Assistant Professor rank to augment its growing research faculty. The successful candidate will have extramural funding and potential to secure more. University and community service will be expected as appropriate.
The Division of Infectious Diseases at IU includes 40+ faculty, Advanced Practice Providers, and four to six Fellows. The Chair of the Department of Medicine, Dr. David Aronoff, is a member of the ID division. The division's faculty lead cutting-edge research programs and can provide mentorship in HIV, global health, malaria, sexually transmitted infections, reproductive health, and immunology. The School's and Department's NIH rankings have steadily improved over the last five years with over 100% increase in federal funding over this period. The ID division has over 1300 sq ft of renovated laboratory space and a fully staffed clinical research unit to support new investigators. Generous startup funding and resources will be afforded to the successful candidate.
The ID Division actively collaborates with multiple other departments, including Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Microbiology & Immunology, and Biostatistics. In addition, our investigators have close partnerships and are supported by the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI), a statewide partnership between the IU School of Medicine, IU Bloomington, Purdue University, and the University of Notre Dame.
Research time will be devoted to chosen candidate's area of interest within infectious diseases.
