Job description

Position Summary

The Assistant Controller plays a key leadership role in supporting the Controller and ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and efficiency of the company's accounting operations. As the organization continues to grow through acquisitions, this position will be instrumental in integrating newly acquired companies into standardized financial processes, systems, and reporting structures.

Reporting directly to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will partner with finance and operational leaders to improve accounting processes, implement best practices, and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting across a multi-company environment. This role requires a patient, collaborative leader with excellent communication skills who can effectively guide teams through change while maintaining strong internal controls and financial integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Controller in managing the day-to-day accounting operations for a growing multi-company organization.
  • Lead the accounting integration of newly acquired companies, including onboarding financial processes, chart of accounts alignment, system conversions, and standardized reporting.
  • Assisting implementing and improving accounting systems, workflows, and internal controls to support continued organizational growth.
  • Drive process standardization across all business units while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Coordinate month-end and year-end close activities across multiple entities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial performance reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, regulatory requirements, tax filings, and external audits.
  • Partner with operations, human resources, payroll, and other departments to improve communication and financial processes across the organization.
  • Train, mentor, and support accounting staff while helping newly integrated teams adopt company policies and procedures.
  • Develop documentation for accounting policies, procedures, and best practices to promote consistency throughout the organization.
  • Assist the Controller with strategic initiatives, acquisitions, ERP implementations, and other special projects.

Reporting Relationship

This position reports directly to the Controller and works closely with finance leadership, business unit managers, and cross-functional teams to support the company's continued growth through acquisition, integration, and operational excellence.

Schedule Expectations

  • Full-time position (Exempt)
  • Onsite: Four (4) days per week at our West Bridgewater office
  • Remote: One (1) remote workday per week, available after the successful completion of the training and onboarding period
