McKeever Price Chopper is seeking an experienced, motivated, and detail-oriented Assistant Grocery Department Manager to oversee the heart of our store-the grocery department. Position Overview:

As the Assistant Grocery Department Manager, you will lead all aspects of the grocery department including inventory control, merchandising, staffing, training, and customer service. You'll ensure the shelves are full, clean, and organized while managing a high-performing team and achieving departmental goals. Additionally, the Assistant Grocery Department Manager is responsible for overseeing all store operations in the absence of the Store Director and Grocery Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, train, and motivate grocery team members to deliver excellent service and performance
  • Oversee ordering, receiving, and stocking of all grocery items
  • Maintain accurate inventory and ensure product rotation to maximize freshness and minimize shrink
  • Ensure store policies and safety procedures are followed in stockrooms and on the floor
  • Create and maintain visually appealing displays and promotional endcaps
  • Monitor department labor and expenses to meet budget and productivity goals
  • Resolve customer issues and inquiries professionally and promptly
  • Assist with scheduling, hiring, and onboarding of new team members



Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Prior retail grocery or supermarket management experience required
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of inventory systems, merchandising, and safety procedures
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays

Physical Requirements:

  • Stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout shift (up to 8 hours)
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly
