Assistant Director – Giggle Grove Academy (Daycare Center)

Location: Hillsboro, Oregon

About Us

Giggle Grove Academy is a new, high-quality daycare and preschool in Hillsboro, Oregon. We are building a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment where children thrive through Montessori-inspired, play-based, and STEM-integrated learning. As we launch, we are seeking an Assistant Director to help lead our center alongside the Director/Owner. This is a unique opportunity to be part of building a program from the ground up and shaping a culture of excellence, collaboration, and joy.

The Assistant Director Role

The Assistant Director works closely with the Director/Owner to ensure the center delivers:

  • A high-quality educational experience for children
  • Exceptional customer service for families
  • A supportive, collaborative culture for staff

You will help oversee daily operations, support teacher recruitment and training, engage families, and drive enrollment growth. The ideal candidate will love building community, partnering with families, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Operations & Administration
    • Support daily operations including scheduling, billing, supply ordering, and compliance reporting.
    • Administer and optimize Brightwheel for communication, attendance.
    • Assist with stocking, inventory, and vendor coordination
  • Staffing & Training
    • Assist in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding teachers and assistants
    • Ensure staff remain compliant with Oregon Registry steps, CBR enrollment, and certifications
    • Assist in staff /teacher professional development and ongoing training initiatives
  • Family & Community Engagement
    • support in the enrollment process and converting leads.
    • Assist in organizing open houses, orientations, and family events (including some weekends at launch)
    • Demonstrating flexibility by stepping in to support leadership when needed, serving as the point of contact for parents and handling inquiries, feedback, and conflict resolution.
  • Compliance & Quality
    • Maintain accurate licensing documentation and support inspections
    • Work with the Director to achieve and maintain high-quality star ratings (Spark/QRIS)
  • Growth & Outreach
    • Assist with community engagement and outreach to increase enrollment
    • Participate in marketing efforts, social media presence, and reputation building
    • Help create a positive, professional culture that supports staff and delights families

Minimum Qualifications

  • Prior experience as an Assistant Director or Director in a licensed daycare or preschool
  • At least 21 years old (per OAR 414-300-0080)
  • At least 1-3 year of staff supervision experience
  • Knowledge of child development and early learning best practices
  • Oregon Registry Step 9 or higher (or equivalent qualifications)
  • Current CPR/First Aid, Food Handler’s Card, and Child Abuse & Neglect Training
  • Enrolled in Oregon’s Central Background Registry (CBR) prior to employment
  • Strong technology skills, including experience with Brightwheel or similar systems
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with a genuine passion for working with children and families

Good-to-Have Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education Administration, or Business Management
  • Experience with Montessori methods, STEM or early literacy programs.    
  • Knowledge of local community demographics and market needs
