Job description

Museum Supervisor - French Valley Discovery Hangar - (Fulltime position $20.00-$21.00 HR.)
The Museum Supervisor supports the overall operations of the French Valley Discovery Hangar by delivering outstanding guest service and assisting with daily museum functions. This hands-on role supervisory role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with the public in a unique cultural setting and helping create a welcoming, engaging experience for every guest.
This position serves as a front-line point of contact for visitors by assisting with inquiries, ticket and membership transactions, site navigation, programs, events, and general facility readiness. Previous museum, retail, hospitality, or customer service experience is preferred.
Primary Responsibilites
  • Provide a warm, professional welcome to all guests, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact through phone, email, digital platforms, and in-person interactions.
  • Assist guests with questions, ticket sales, rescheduling, group reservations, and membership processing with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Monitor communication channels, including voicemail, email, social media, and internal platforms, to ensure timely responses and appropriate follow-up.
  • Guide visitors through the admission process efficiently and help ensure they are prepared to explore the museum.

Engagement and Site Navigation
  • Actively assist guests throughout the facility by providing clear directions and site information.
  • Foster positive and meaningful connections with visitors to enhance the overall museum experience.
  • Share basic knowledge of seasonal themes, exhibits, programs, and special events during guest interactions.
  • Support and promote museum programs and events through visitor engagement and basic outreach assistance.

Operations, Safety, and Facility Readiness
  • Supervise Museum Staff of 3 part-time employees.
  • Create a weekly schedule.
  • Support events and facility readiness by assisting with set-up, tear-down, resetting spaces after events, and maintaining a clean and organized environment.
  • Monitor front-of-house areas to ensure stations are stocked, functional, clean, and guest-ready.
  • Perform regular walkthroughs to ensure exhibit materials and interactive components are cleaned, sanitized, maintained, and returned to their proper stations.
  • Monitor inventory levels for front-of-house supplies, including stickers, wristbands, and informational materials, and coordinate reordering needs with management.
  • Maintain the Lost and Found log and assist with the professional sorting, storage, and return of items.
  • Follow safety protocols, facility policies, and basic first aid procedures as needed.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to support a positive visitor experience and improve daily operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a customer-facing role preferred.
  • Previous museum, retail, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Must be outgoing, guest-service oriented, and willing to adapt to a fast-paced museum environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and communicate information clearly to a diverse audience.
  • Strong organization and multitasking skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and tactful under pressure.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills with a focus on teamwork and collaborative solutions.
  • Comfortable using digital systems, including email, Windows, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and special events as needed.
  • Position requires long periods of standing and the ability to push and pull 20 pounds.
