Job description

Proof of the Pudding is an award-winning catering company throughout the Southeast with a commitment to creating quality culinary concepts from scratch. This standard was upheld through the expansion into Sports and Entertainment Hospitality Services by providing elevated concessions and premium offerings to collegiate stadiums, PGA golf tournaments, International Boat Shows, Professional Sports Teams, & more.
Proof of the Pudding operates Rice University Concessions and is searching for Cashiers/Service Attendants to monitor and assist in the operations of the University Concessions during sporting events. The ideal candidate will be available for all Rice home football games. We are offering competitive pay and on-the-job training.
This is seasonal/part-time work as business needs are dictated by athletic events.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Maintaining and cleaning the buffet services according to standards
  • Accomplishes all assigned cleaning, stocking, and maintenance tasks
  • Answer any guest questions about the menu items, daily specials and beverages, including knowledge of the ingredients, preparation methods and garnishes
  • Prepares foods, such as fruit, juices, cereals, bread, hot foods, Replenish food on hot/cold buffets
  • Restocks outlet with appropriate inventory
  • Removes trash from all containers in outlet, taking it to the dumpster located on the loading dock
  • Put away food stock and dry goods in their proper location
  • Assists in arranging the room and setting tables for special events
  • Thorough knowledge of ice handling procedures health and sanitation guidelines
  • Ability to maintain a clean, well-stocked station
  • Delivering and running food between suites
  • Assisting the culinary, operations, and premium team as directed

Performs other related duties as required.
Education and/or Experience
  • Experience working in food & beverage or a stadium is preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must live within or near Houston, TX
  • Must be available for the majority of Rice University event days
  • Must be a phenomenal team player.

Specialized Qualifications:
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
  • Ability to work shifts ranging from 8-12 hours as business demands
  • Ability to perform physical tasks; such as but not limited to, lifting approx. 40 lbs.
  • Planning, multi-tasking and a phenomenal team player.
  • Self-motivated with a high energy level and strong verbal communication.

Work Environment
The work environment for this position will be event operations and working out of the Football Stadium or similar venues. This position will often move throughout campus and stadium grounds on different terrains.
This is seasonal/part-time work as business needs are dictated by athletic events.
Uniform Requirements
Adherence to Company Uniform Requirements outlined in the Associate Handbook, uniform requirements outlined in your orientation guidelines.
Non-slip shoes are necessary.
Physical Demands:
  • Prolonged periods of moving through an event space, and traveling throughout the stadium
  • Bending, lifting, scooping, and carrying miscellaneous equipment and food items
  • Must be able to lift up-to 40 pounds at times.
