As a Retail Floor Associate – Fishing amp; Marine, you will play a key role in providing legendary customer service, assisting in the smooth operations of our store, and serving as a knowledgeable resource for customers shopping our Fishing amp; Marine department.
Retail Floor Associate Responsibilities:
Customer Service: Customer service is priority one. Greet each customer with a smile and ask, "What can I help you find today?" Always walk the customer to the product and ensure they have everything they need for their project.
Fishing amp; Marine: Assist customers with selecting fishing and marine products by recommending the appropriate rods, reels, line, tackle, bait, and accessories based on their target species, skill level, and budget. Demonstrate knowledge of rod actions and power, reel gear ratios, line types (braid, monofilament, and fluorocarbon), terminal tackle, and properly spool fishing reels. Apply knowledge of local waters, including the Caloosahatchee River, Cape Coral canals, and nearby Gulf fisheries, to recommend equipment for species such as Snook, Redfish, Tarpon, and Speckled Trout. Explain product features and benefits, fishing techniques, knot tying, and drag adjustment in a way that is easy for beginners to understand. Stay current on Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) regulations, including seasonal closures and bag limits.
Stocking amp; Merchandising: Stock all warehouse, drop ship, and back stock inventory. Front and face merchandise on shelves as directed by management. Organize and maintain product displays.
Product Knowledge: Demonstrate the ability to read and explain directions for unfamiliar products. Share product knowledge to assist customers with their needs.
Physical Tasks:
- Lift heavy cartons from the floor to overhead racks.
- Perform routine bending, climbing, and twisting to retrieve, stock, and move products.
- Use a scanner for merchandise transactions and a Point of Sale system to process customer purchases.
General Duties: Ensure store cleanliness, maintain safety standards, and assist with various other tasks as assigned by management.
Minimum Requirements:
Retail Experience: At least 1–3 years of retail experience is a plus, but not required.
Fishing amp; Marine Experience: Previous fishing, boating, or marine experience is strongly preferred. Knowledge of fishing equipment, local Southwest Florida fisheries, and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) regulations is highly desirable.
Product Knowledge: Experience or willingness to learn about hardware, fishing, marine, and home improvement products.
Flexible Availability: Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet business needs.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity for cash register operations and assembly of products.
- Comfort with bending, climbing, twisting, and loading/unloading products.
Customer Service: Strong customer service skills and the ability to engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
