Assistant Chief Financial Officer - North

Indiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody these values to join our finance leadership team in the role of Associate Chief Financial Officer.
The Assistant Chief Financial Officer (Assistant CFO) serves as a senior finance leader and strategic partner to the Regional Chief Financial Officer (Regional CFO) and regional Executive Teams, supporting oversight of financial operations, performance management, planning processes, and the control environment as it relates to financial management. This leader plays a key part in regional decision-making by translating financial results into actionable insights, reinforcing fiscal discipline, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies. In the absence of the Regional CFO, the Assistant CFO serves as the CFO's delegate, representing Finance with executive leadership across the region and enabling broader strategic oversight. The Assistant CFO may provide leadership across core finance functions, including accounting, financial reporting, FP&A, budgeting, reimbursement, and analytics. This leader in partnership with the Regional CFO and executive leadership, drives financial performance and long-range planning through forward-looking analysis, scenario modeling, and clear, actionable recommendations. The Assistant CFO supports stewardship of financial resources, including cash flow, working capital, capital planning, and balance sheet management, ensuring long-term financial sustainability and partners with operational, clinical, and administrative leaders to drive accountability and performance improvement, including productivity optimization, expense management, and revenue enhancement. This leader develops finance talent, fosters a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, and represents Finance in regional executive forums with a strong executive presence.

Reports to: Vice President - Chief Financial Officer, North and South Regions
Candidate Qualifications
Candidates for the position will be evaluated according to the following criteria and competencies.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required. Master's Degree (MBA, MHA, or a related discipline) is preferred.
  • CPA, CMA, or a similar professional certification is preferred.
  • Requires 8 plus years of progressive finance/accounting leadership experience. Prior hospital, health system, or regulated industry experience and controller or supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Requires 4 years of people leader experience.
  • Requires strong knowledge of financial reporting, GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, internal controls, and audit processes.
  • Requires demonstrated strategic and operational finance capability, including the ability to connect numbers to business decisions and organizational policies.
  • Requires excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex financial information clearly to executives, boards, and non-financial leaders.
  • Requires strong leadership presence, sound judgement, relationship-building ability, and the capacity to lead through change in complex environments.
