Job Summary
The TV & Film Studio Production Assistant will gain hands-on experience in video, film, and multimedia production while supporting the day-to-day operations of Southwest Tennessee Community College's TV and Film Studio. The student assistant will work closely with faculty and staff on studio production activities, equipment management, media projects, and event support.
This position provides practical, industry-relevant experience for students interested in film production, television production, content creation, live event production, broadcast media, and related fields.
Job Duties
  • Studio Operations
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of live-to-tape studio productions and video shoots, and live-streaming events.
  • Support camera, lighting, audio, teleprompter, and other production equipment operations.
  • Help maintain studio organization and ensure equipment is properly stored.
  • Equipment Management
  • Assist with checking out, tracking, and returning production equipment.
  • Conduct basic equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
  • Maintain inventory records and equipment storage areas.
  • Media Production Support
  • Assist faculty, staff, and students with production projects.
  • Support video editing, media file organization, and digital asset management.
  • Assist with recording classroom, promotional, and special event productions.
  • Event and Production Assistance
  • Assist with campus productions, special events, student showcases, and program activities.
  • Provide production support for academic and community engagement projects.
  • Help prepare facilities for instructional use and demonstrations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be a registered student of Southwest Tennessee Community College.
  • Only students who are approved for Federal Work Study are qualified for this position.

  • Interest in film, television, media production, audio production, entertainment production, or related fields.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently.
  • Ability to lift and move production equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Dependable, professional, and able to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Coursework in TV/Film Production, Communication, Entertainment Production, Digital Media, Graphic Arts, or related disciplines.
  • Experience with cameras, lighting, audio equipment, or editing software.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud, DaVinci Resolve, or similar production software.
  • Experience with social media content creation or video production.
