**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**Job Title: Environmental Service Supervisor-Omaha Job Code: 880351**
Immediate Supervisor: Maintenance & Environmental Services Manager
Status: Non-exempt
**DEPARTMENT FUNCTION/JOB OVERVIEW**
Responsible for the leadership and supervision of the Environmental Services staff in Omaha. Responsible for the sanitation of assigned hospital areas to meet infection control guidelines and overseeing tasks related to patient room setup/surroundings and the care of patient personal belongings. Responsible for the distribution of supplies, clean linens and removal of soiled linen/trash from patient rooms. Completes monthly schedules ensuring adequate staff to meet business needs. Assists manager with employee recordkeeping and timecard approval. Works in cooperation with Patient Care, Risk, and Facilities Management systems to ensure room readiness and timely admissions, discharges and transfer activities. This position is dual leadership and working role which includes direct responsibility for operation of EVS equipment to clean and disinfect all areas of the hospital. Performs job duties of EVS workers under supervision when staffing shortages occur. Work will be performed in an ethical and legal manner following organizational policies, processes, protocols and procedures. Responsible for quality service delivery and internal/external customer relations for Madonna as a whole, including upholding the mission and values for the department and facility.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS** 1. Coordinate, compile and analyze staff workload to maximize efficiency of service delivery. 2. Monitor control chart data reflecting QA's. 3. Monitor the completion of patient personal inventory logs during their stay to meet regulatory/customer service outcomes. 4. Assist with staff timecard approval ensuring timecards are completed accurately by payroll deadline. 5. Coordinate and oversee patient room visual quality needs with the Admissions Coordinator, Nurse Supervisor and Case Manager. 6. Monitor patient activity daily to ensure rooms are processed and available according to admission, transfer and discharge function guidelines. 7. Accesses patient rooms prior to admission to ensure room is set up properly and everything is in working order and good repair. Issue computer generated repair request to Maintenance when needed. 8. Responsible for completing monthly schedules to ensure adequate staffing. 9. Gather data and maintain reports of assigned employees work and designated area to ensure quality service is provided according to established deadlines. 10. Complete daily inspections and shift report. 11. Maintain and follow up on records of daily work completed via checklist for manager. 12. Coordinate daily work assignments for employees to ensure adequate staffing. 13. Position may be required to work varying shifts. 14. Interact in a professional, supervisory manner when interacting with staff and all customers. 15. Oversee orientation and training of staff to ensure efficient/accurate understanding of job duties and Madonna as a whole. 16. Monitor and coach work performance issues for employees and provides feedback to manager for follow-up. 17. Responsible for all staff and department functions in the absence of the manager. 18. Follow instructions from manager to perform other tasks/duties to achievethe goals within the department and /or system. 19. Completes staff review by due date. 20. Completes monthly leader rounding and documents outcomes. 21. Participates on teams and /or committees as requested. 22. Performs all job duties of Housekeeping Attendant and EVS Tech to clean dust, disinfect and provide floor care service to all areas of Madonna property. 23. Coordinates, maintains inventory and orders adequate supplies. 24. Must be able to operate standard office equipment including personal computer with Microsoft Office software. 25. Oversee the removal of sharps and biohazard containers according to function schedule and as needed. 26. Handles and operates all necessary equipment and performs required duties according to established safety standards to maintain compliance with regulations and prevent injury.
**PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS**
Medium work lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, 10-15 pounds frequently. Requires walking, standing, bending, grasping, pushing and pulling. Pushes and pulls small and large carts to deliver supplies/equipment to and from the patient care areas. Push and pull handcart with supplies to areas to be cleaned. Requires up to 20 pounds to initiate, then 7-10 pounds to maintain.Routinely exposed to Biohazard materials through the soiled linen process and while changing sharps containers or changing out Biohazard containers.
Exposed to disinfectants, patient soil and dust/lint routinely. Requires sufficient sight to see and read reports and computer screen. Requires sufficient hearing and speaking to communicate by phone or in person. If required to drive, must possess required mobility.
**QUALIFICATIONS** (Education/training and/or Experience)
Two years' experience in commercial cleaning and/or healthcare disinfection required of which one year performed supervisory duties in training and developing workers in like size organization. Basic math and reading skills required. Must maintain positive communication in a fast paced environment under adverse conditions. May be required to drive a motor vehicle. If required to drive, must have current valid Nebraska driver's license, must submit a copy of current driver's abstract reflecting a good driving record.
