Job description

Job Summary: 

The Condition Based Monitoring Technician provides technical knowledge and expertise to maintain and improve equipment reliability using Motion Amplification, Alignment, Dopler based monitoring equipment, and vibration and infrared monitoring equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Must work in a safe manner in all conditions and circumstances, follow all plant safety guidelines
  • Must attend a SIF scenario meeting once per month
  • Must be able to consistently complete all assignments as directed with minimal supervision
  • Must maintain current fundamentals in the use and application of Motion Amplification, Rotalign Alignment, FARO Target Support, and Doppler Flow instrument use.
  • Utilize trained skillsets in the use of Infrared Thermography, Vibration Data Collection, and UE Data Collection as monitoring tools used to gather data that will be used to improve equipment reliability.
  • Perform, as needed, and assist engineers as needed with Failure Analysis of equipment, using data compiled through the use of condition-based monitoring equipment.
  • Maintain knowledge of, properly use any and all permitting required for performing specialized work, such as, but not limited to the General Work Permit
  • Completes data collection from monitoring equipment utilizing scheduled run routes for each unit
  • Must consistently practice good housekeeping principles
  • Must be able to demonstrate the methods used to check and calibrate condition-based monitoring equipment.
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance employees to solve problems and improve reliability of process equipment
  • Supports emergency troubleshooting, repairs, and corrections for systems and process equipment
  • Provides technical support for troubleshooting equipment problems and breakdowns
  • Manages documentation control processes, procedures, accuracy and quality
  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of computers relating to report generation, downloading data collected by monitoring equipment, sharing of information through email, Excel reports, and word documents.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as electrician or mechanical technician with focus technical skills used to monitor the reliability of equipment
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated experience on condition-based monitoring tools and equipment
  • Experienced in preventative/predictive maintenance systems with a strong emphasis on process equipment and methods used to monitor the reliability of that equipment
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient with Microsoft Office software e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong problem solving, judgment, and critical thinking skills
  • Aptitude for detailed work requiring a high degree of accuracy
  • Good communication, high level of autonomy, collaboration and interpersonal skills are equally important
  • Perform, understand and communicate detailed information analysis and evaluation, and have a good track record working effectively within a team-based environment

 

About Constellium Muscle Shoals:

Constellium Muscle Shoals is a major aluminum sheet supplier for the packaging and automotive markets. The plant has ~1,200 employees and more than 100 acres under room, including five casting units, hot and cold rolling mills, and a slitting and finishing center. Muscle Shoals produces aluminum sheet for use in all three components of beverage cans (body stock, coated end stock, tab stock) and has the capacity to produce over 1 billion pounds per year of finished aluminum coils. The plant also produces aluminum automotive coils to be processed at our CALP line in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Muscle Shoals' world-class recycling center is able to recycle the equivalent of 20 billion aluminum cans per year.
