Job description

We have an opening in our Operations & Engineering department for an Assistant Engineer. This is a hybrid work opportunity, meaning that employees are eligible to work remotely for part of the work week, dependent on job function and business needs.
Job Description
The Assistant Engineer position (Level P1) is responsible for providing excellent service to our customers by effectively supporting infrastructure and capital design projects. Projects may include new designs or upgrades to existing water treatment facilities, pumping stations, and water storage tanks. Under supervision of team members, they will be responsible for coordinating work and maintaining communications with Company personnel and external customers. They will ensure Company standards and specifications are incorporated into facility design. In addition, they will collect and complete Operations and Maintenance Data, and coordinate As-Built information in compliance with the reporting Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), and adhere to Company administrative reporting policies and controls.
  • Performs in-field investigations and design work of assigned infrastructure and capital projects to ensure compliance with Contract Documents. Receives assistance in the completion of more complex assignments.

  • Develops plans, specifications and cost estimates for bidding for vertical facilities projects, either independently or as part of a project team.

  • Provides support for required applications for permits or approvals from Federal, State or local agencies.

  • Under the supervisions of others, coordinates design schedule and activities to facilitate project delivery.

  • Provides support to Facilities Projects Coordinators during construction of new facilities.

  • Adheres to Company administrative reporting policies and controls.

  • Coordinates as-built drawings and compiles Operations and Maintenance manual information.

  • Works closely with local teams to ensure successful communication of information.
    Performs additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualification
  • Associate's or Bachelor's of Science in Engineering required

  • Engineering in Training, E.I.T. certification preferred

  • Hydraulic and Design skills preferred

  • GIS skillset preferred

  • Computer aided design CAD software; AutoCAD skillset preferred

  • Must have General Office Software skillset
