Job DescriptionElectrical Engineer โ€“ Building Systems

Location:D'Iberville, Mississippi
Compensation: $110,000

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Electrical Engineer to support a growing portfolio of projects across the municipal, educational, commercial, and industrial sectors.

In this role, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, and documentation of building electrical systems from concept through construction. You will collaborate with architects, other engineering disciplines, and clients to deliver thoughtful, code-compliant, and cost-effective solutions.

Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Design & Engineering
  • Develop electrical one-line diagrams and power distribution systems.

  • Design and lay out power, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.

  • Perform branch circuiting and prepare accurate electrical panel schedules.

  • Conduct lighting calculations using industry-standard tools to meet required light levels.

  • Assist with fire alarm system design and develop associated specifications.

  • Design building low-voltage systems, including:

    • Communications

    • Security systems

    • Access control

  • Perform and document short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies.

Project Documentation & Specifications
  • Write and maintain project-specific electrical specifications.

  • Prepare scopes of work based on site assessments and client requirements.

  • Review project submittals and shop drawings for compliance with design requirements.

  • Produce accurate and detailed electrical design documentation.

Field & Construction Support
  • Conduct field investigations and site visits to evaluate existing conditions and gather project data.

  • Support construction administration activities as needed.

  • Assist in resolving electrical design and construction-related issues.

Coordination
  • Coordinate electrical systems with:

    • Architectural components

    • Mechanical systems

    • Structural systems

  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.

  • Manage multiple project responsibilities and deadlines simultaneously.

Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • 4+ years of electrical design experience preferred.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD.

  • Knowledge of Revit MEP is a plus.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including:

    • Word

    • Excel

    • Outlook

  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Willingness to pursue Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
