Compensation: $24 - $28 per hour + overtime


Position Summary

United Dredging is seeking an experienced Fabricator to support fabrication shop operations through advanced welding, fabrication, mechanical repair, and equipment maintenance. This role is responsible for completing fabrication projects with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and productivity.

The ideal candidate has strong welding and mechanical skills, can troubleshoot and repair heavy equipment, and works well in a fast-paced industrial environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform Stick, MIG, TIG, and Dual Shield welding
  • Read blueprints and complete fabrication layouts and assemblies
  • Operate torch, plasma, and carbon-arc cutting equipment
  • Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance on dredges and heavy equipment
  • Setup and operate fabrication shop equipment safely and efficiently
  • Assist with material planning, work orders, and project completion
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Support and mentor junior fabricators and mechanics
  • Travel occasionally to field job sites for repairs and installation support


Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3-5 years of welding and fabrication experience
  • Experience with Stick, MIG, TIG, and Dual Shield welding
  • Blueprint reading and fabrication layout experience
  • Mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience
  • Ability to work independently in industrial shop environments

Preferred:

  • Experience working on dredges or heavy equipment
  • OSHA or welding certifications
  • Forklift or heavy equipment operation experience

Schedule & Compensation

  • Estimated annual earnings: $68,000 - $80,000+ depending on experience, overtime, certifications, and travel


Work Environment

This position works primarily in fabrication shop and industrial job-site environments with exposure to heavy equipment, outdoor conditions, noise, dust, and physically demanding tasks. The work is physically demanding, requiringlifting upto 75lbs, extended standing and walking, climbing, bending, and occasional work at heights or in confined spaces. Travel to project sites may occasionally be required.
