Job description

Promises Behavioral Health is looking for a Nurse Supervisor for our Atlanta facility.

This would be a 4x10shift, rotating, must have weekend availability. Must have RN licensure.

The Nurse Supervisor provides professional, direct client care and oversight of medical staff in a medical detoxification and residential program settings and mental health residential setting in accordance with established program procedures. This position collaborates with efforts of health team members and in accordance with the nursing process and standards of care and practice.

 Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Facilitate training and observance of medication administration with nursing staff at hire and annually.
  • Monitor medical device inventory throughout the year.
  • Assist DON with inventory and ordering medical supplies.
  • Assist with monthly medication room audits
  • Assist in monitoring staff attendance and follow up with DON.
  • Taking calls from staff for coverage issues.  
  • Flexibility with work time is required so the Nurse Supervisor is available to cover where needed.
  • Will be on call for nursing with DON
  • Will cover nursing department, including issues, staffing and call off coverage when DON is unavailable
  • Assist in auditing previous day admissions to be sure nursing is staying compliant with all PBH guidelines for patient care.
  • Communicate with DON regarding any deficient training needs for staff.
  • Assist DON with initiating monthly nursing meetings.  
  • Assist and/or facilitate NEO and CLIA training of staff at hire and annually.
  • Monitor and assist with delivery of any nursing needs RE: medications or supplies.  
  • Assist with influx of admits and be responsible for checking shift report.
  • Ensure nursing group notes are put in as required and assist with this duty when high volume requires it.
  • The Lead Nurse will assist with monthly glucometer checks, monthly CLIA Audits, monitoring of narcotic count sheets and temp logs.
  • Oversee fulfillment of client's medical orders, address client medical concerns.
  • Triage medical concerns, administer medications and injections to clients as directed by provider.
  • Serve as first line in any medical emergency and works with the clinical team in incidences of psychiatric emergencies.
  • Is a resource to the nursing staff.
  • Is a resource to the Behavioral Health Technicians (BHT) on off shifts.
  • Works as a liaison between the nursing and BHT staff, offering support to both.
  • Perform laboratory procedures from specimen collections, as authorized.
  • Record client observations and activities in client records accurately and timely in accordance with nursing standards and organizational policy and procedure.
  • Assist with aspects of admission/discharge process, including:
    • Pre-screen of new clients for appropriateness for admission.
    • Obtain physical assessment data and health history.
    • Inventory and caring for clients' personal possessions.
    • Complete discharge paperwork.
  • Follow all policies and procedures with regard to client information protection, including alcohol-drug client confidentiality and HIPAA.
  • Maintains and adheres to established infection control/employee health program.
  • Maintain and demonstrates a current working knowledge of applicable nursing care based on company policy and State and Federal guidelines.
  • Attend training on chemical dependency as required.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with current clients, family members, referrals sources and vendors.
  • Comply with the company's code of conduct.
  • Availability for alternate, evening and weekend shifts may be required to meet state and regulatory agency requirements and business necessity.
  • Must maintain current/active licensure requirements; without any disciplinary actions.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelors

Certifications:

  • Current, valid RN license.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.

Experience:

  • Minimum one (1) year experience in behavioral health or residential detoxification program setting is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of nursing practices and basic principles, practices and techniques of drug and alcohol intervention.
