General Information
Job Description:Must be able to work unsupervised on a daily basis maintaining, trouble shooting and repairing mechanical, piping and electrical systems, share weekend watch responsibilities, and work up to 30 hours when necessary for dry-docking evolutions. Other job duties include: Work under direction of Dockmaster. Supervise and schedule tasks and work items for other dock mechanics to complete. Operation of POSD/POCA control console. Operation of POSD/POCA trolley systems, capstans, anchor windlass. Operation of switchboards, motor controllers, and other control and automation systems. Qualified line handler. Welding and gas burning. Maintain preventative and corrective maintenance files on POSD/POCA. Operate diesel generators and paralleling switchboards on POSD/POCA. Support yard trades with ships in POSD/POCA as needed. Operate forklifts and aerial lifts. Inspect, service, and maintain POSD/POCA mooring grippers. Possess and maintain all appropriate shipyard safety and environmental certifications. Hook up and disconnect dock and ships temporary services in POSD/POCA. Assist Dockmaster in creating docking and undocking schedules for POSD/POCA. Knowledge of safe rigging practices. Interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, and dock layouts. General understanding of marine terminology. Possess computer skills in Microsoft Office. Minimum of 5 years related experience within ship yard repair and or Navy vessels.
