Parker Meggitt, a recent addition to Parker Hannifin, is a global leader in the Commercial and Military Aerospace markets, specializing in a wide range of products including fire and smoke detection systems, extinguishing systems, bleed air overheat detection systems, actuators, rudder pedal assemblies, pumps, fuel gauging systems, and high-temperature cables. Located in Simi Valley, CA, this site is within the Fire Safety & Power Systems Division (FSPSD) and is a key supplier in select energy markets, particularly in nuclear gas analyzers and nuclear containment vessel penetration cables. We work directly with some of the largest aerospace companies in the world, including Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, and Lockheed Martin, among others.

ACCOUNTING (AP/AR) LEADER JOB DESIGNATION
  • The Accounting (AP/AR) Leader ensures the accurate processing, compilation, analysis, and reporting of accounting data.This role will develop, implement, and maintain systems, policies and procedures. Generates forecasts and analyzes trends within A/R & A/P function.
  • The Accounting Lead will make regular contact with departmental staff, division controllers and accounting staff.
  • This will manage and lead the AR & AP team generally within business units or a site.
JOB CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The Accounting Leader will manage the accuracy in reporting and compliance with General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)and other accounting policies.
  • The Accounting Leadermanages AR & AP within a business unit and develops accounting staff to meet team targets, along with reviewing industry trends for updates.
  • The Accounting AR/AP Supervisor will oversee the full-cycle Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions, responsibilities include managing daily transactions, enforcing internal controls, and supervising accounting staff.
  • Prepares, records, analyzes and reports accounting transactions.
  • Ensures internal controls are in place and functioning, as intended.
  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of A/P & A/R subledgers and ensures compliance and alignment with company policies.
  • Develops, implements, and maintain systems, policies and procedures.
  • Manages staff selection, performance, development and training processes to ensure team competencies, and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned:
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate objectives and systems for accounting, payables, and receivables.
  • Conduct analysis of accounting systems and procedures inclusive of problem diagnosis and corrective action recommendations.
  • May assist in the preparation of financial statements, reviews, budgets, forecasts, and analysis.
  • Participate, coordinate and review month-end and year end closings and governmental reports and forms submittal as assigned.
  • Train, develop, assist and instruct subordinate employees according to company policy and sound employee relations.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS Education requirement:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting or equivalent field of study

Years Experience:
  • Must have at least 2-3 years of people management / supervisory experience
  • Must have 5+ years of accounts receivable and accounts payable experience
  • Must have manufacturing experience (aerospace manufacturing is a plus)
Skills:
  • Thorough understanding and experience of standard accounting concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of accounting, financial reporting and financial analysis acquired through related work experience in increasingly complex roles.
  • Experience with accounts payable and receivable processing in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong team development and management skills to enable the creation of a highly capable Finance and Accounting team.
  • Strong analytical and independent problem-solving skills to evaluate financial results, projections and datamining.
  • Strong AP/AR reconciliation experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to explain complex information to others in straightforward situations; excellent interpersonal skills to drive task to completion.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and database management tools.
