Job description

ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. All qualified applicants for this position must be professing Christians and be willing to support the Christian mission and purpose of the university.

This role supports student success across coursework and dissertation phases and contributes to continuous improvement of curriculum, student experience, and academic quality within the EdD in Organizational Leadership.

This position contributes to the program's mission of preparing Christian scholar-practitioners for ethical, research-informed leadership in diverse organizational contexts.The Assistant Professor is a full-time faculty member responsible for teaching, mentoring doctoral students, serving on dissertation committees, engaging in scholarship, and participating in service to the program, college, and university.

Necessary Criteria:

The Assistant Professor must have a Ph.D., Ed.D., or other terminal degree in Organizational Leadership or a closely related leadership discipline from an accredited institution. They must demonstrate expertise in organizational leadership theory and application, demonstrated ability to engage in scholarly activity, competency in qualitative and/or quantitative research methodologies, commitment to mentoring doctoral students and supporting dissertation research, the ability to teach effectively in an online doctoral learning environment, and alignment with and commitment to the mission and values of Abilene Christian University.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Teach doctoral-level courses in organizational leadership and related areas.

  • Facilitate engaging, rigorous online learning experiences consistent with the university and program standards.

  • Chair and/or serve on dissertation committees.

  • Mentor doctoral students in academic writing, research, and professional development.

  • Contribute to curriculum development and revision to ensure academic rigor and market relevance.

  • Maintain active scholarly engagement appropriate for a faculty appointment.

  • Contribute to the academic, administrative, and service life of the program, college, and university.

  • Deliver high quality online instruction aligned with course learning outcomes.

  • Experience serving on or chairing dissertation committees preferred.
