Job description

As a member of the ManagementTeam, an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) will maintain a unified presenceand will be supportive of the Organization’s mission and administrative effortsat all times in a positive manner and approach. General responsibilitiesinclude positive leadership assistance to the Director of Nursing in theoverall functioning of clinical services, including all aspects of residentcare and management of employees in the Department of Nursing.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Works under the directsupervision of the Director of Nursing.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

Direct supervision isexercised over all nursing employees on assigned Pavilion.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

An employee in this positionmay be called upon to do any or all the following:

  • Support the mission of Grand Traverse Pavilions.
  • Embrace and support the Quality AssessmentPerformance Improvement (QAPI) philosophy of Grand Traverse Pavilions strivingtoward continuous quality improvement of tasks and systems. Advancerecommendations for quality improvement to respective supervisor.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, rules, andregulations as defined in the Organization’s Corporate Compliance Program andCode of Conduct.
  • Maintain strict confidence regarding contentand/or discussion related to records and information of constituents.
  • Promote environmental safety by compliance withOrganization’s Safety Policies and Procedures, and by monitoring for safetycompliance by constituents.
  • Responsibilities/accountable for resident careand associated activities on assigned Pavilion twenty-four (24) hours per day,seven (7) days per week including delegation of duties/responsibility to nurseson each shift and monitoring to ensure appropriate follow-through of delegatedduties.
  • Provide positive leadership to all constituentsof the organization in accordance with all policies and procedures of theOrganization, including Resident Care Policies and Resident Bill of Rights.
  • Ensure compliance with State and FederalRegulations, nursing standards of practice, and all other applicable rules and regulations. Facilitate interpretation of standards as they apply to nursingcare and documentation, service delivery, staffing, and environment.
  • Participate in application of standardsincluding but not limited to Minimum Data Set (MDS) process and all associateddocumentation including ongoing assessments and care plandevelopment/modification, clinical record entries, policy/proceduredevelopment/revision/enforcement, Staff Development, and Infection Control.
  • Serve as a role model to all members of thePavilions’ team in upholding the Organization’s Code of Conduct, and ensuringcompliance by the team through monitoring work performance and interpersonalrelationships, addressing employee issues/concerns, conducting regular employeemeetings on all three shifts, and participation in employeehiring/evaluations/discipline as needed.
  • Maintain personal, professional growth, participatein educational offerings, and share new information/trends in nursing asrelated to nursing care in a long term care setting.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Subject to reassignment to other areas of theOrganization to meet organizational needs/goals.
  • Subject to flexible hours to maintain managementleadership on all shifts, including weekends.
  • Work environment may have noise, frequentinterruptions, exposure to unpleasant odors, exposure to cleaning productchemicals and disinfectants.
  • Position requires standing, walking, lifting,bending, and sitting.
  • Prescribed dress will be in accordance withOrganization’s Dress Code.
  • Potentially dangerous equipment isutilized/maintained.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT
  • Registered Nurse, licensed in the State of Michigan. BSN preferred.
  • Prior experience in geriatric nursing andmanagement preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational andinterpersonal skills, including public relations skills are required.
  • Knowledge/acceptance of Intergenerationalprinciples and Eden philosophy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize.
