Assistant Director Multilingual Learner Jobs (NOW HIRING)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

Direct the development, revision, implementation, and continuous quality improvement of instructional programs 
for English Learners in specialized and regular classrooms, supervising student support services for Multilingual 
Learners, and supporting effective district communication with limited English proficient families and culturally 
diverse stakeholders.
 

Job Qualifications:

License and Certifications:

• Must hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Educator's Certificate in Educational 
  Leadership and/or Support Personnel License issued by the Georgia 
  Professional Standards Commission (Required)
  
  
• ESOL endorsement or ESOL P-12 (Preferred)

Education:

• Master's Degree in related field (Required)
• Specialist's Degree in related field (Preferred)
• Doctoral Degree in related field (Preferred) 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to develop, lead, and supervise a K-12 Multilingual Learners Program 
  instructional and assessment program to achieve the district's goals, mission, 
  and vision
  
  
• Ability to plan a comprehensive and integrated professional development 
  program for Multilingual Learners Program which supports the direction of the 
  district
  
  
• Strong knowledge of appropriate local, state, and federal laws, rules and 
  regulations and their application to the program area
  
• Ability to manage state and federal grants programmatically and fiscally
• Ability to coordinate Multilingual Learners Program with other curricular and 
  instructional programs
  
• Ability to lead others in pursuit of district's goals, mission, and vision as related 
  to curriculum and instruction
  
• Ability to project and generate positive attitudes
• Ability to work successfully with colleagues, teachers, and community members
• Bilingual ability preferred
• Deep knowledge of best practices for Dual Language programming
• Experience leading a dual language school
• Experience providing professional development for teachers of multilingual 
  learners
  
• Proven track record of improving achievement for multilingual learners 

Work Experience:

• 5 years of successful teaching experience with two years in an instructional leadership role (Required)
• 2 years instructional and leadership experience in the area of Multilingual Learners and local school administrative experience (Preferred)

Essential Job Duties:

• Essential Function:
  • Develop and implement effective specialized program(s) for schools and students.
  • Assist schools in developing school-wide plans to include English Learners in attaining high academic 
    goals consistent with the goals and objectives of the district.
    
  • Develop strategies to promote collaboration between ESOL classrooms and regular classrooms for 
    English Learners' success, grades K-12.
    
• Provide effective professional development:
  • Coordinate the provision of training and technical assistance requested by schools in the areas of needs 
    assessment, program planning, professional learning, parental engagement, etc.
    
  • Direct ESOL endorsement program.
  • Coordinate professional learning opportunities for teachers and leaders based on best practice.
  • Coordinate with the other content areas and program areas for the delivery of pedagogical training 
    specific to the content/program areas.
    
• Collaborate with other divisions and departments to improve teaching and learning.
  • Work with information management including appropriate Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) coding and 
    collection of achievement data for language minority students on the state data report.
    
  • Oversee the development of assessment procedures consistent with high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Oversee the coordination of language instruction to address content area skills for students and plan 
    staff development with content areas of language arts, math, science, social studies, technology 
    education, gifted, Title I, etc.
    
    
  • Oversee the development of improvement plans which address needs of English Learners with particular 
    focus on those within Title.
    
• Provide the strategic direction for the Multilingual Learner Program Office.
  • Hire, supervise, and evaluate staff who provide support to schools in the implementation of the ESOL 
    program.
    
  • Provide direction in the data management requirements for the program.
  • Coordinate with local schools and various district divisions to ensure quality data in Student Information 
    Systems (SIS).
    
  • Ensure ESOL teachers have the information and resources to record data accurately.
  • Manage related grant programs.
  • Oversee the appropriate identification and service to language minority students with special needs and 
    communicating with their families.
    
  • Ensure appropriate ESOL staffing is consistent with student needs.
  • Oversee the delivery of the ESOL endorsement sequence and other staff development.
• Communicate district, department, and program direction.
  • Update and maintain the online ESOL handbook database to reflect changes in law, rules, system 
    procedures, and best instructional practices.
    
  • Communicate information accurately in staff development and through all correspondence.
  • Communicate district direction to the parents of linguistically diverse students through documents made 
    available in the language bank.
    
  • Serve as the liaison to external audiences and partners regarding education of English Learners.
• Develop and manage the program areas annual operating budget in a fiscally responsible manner that supports 
  the initiatives, priorities, and goals of the department, division, and district.
  • Prepare budgetary requests and recommendations for the Multilingual Learner Program for annual 
    budget development.
    
  • Manage the budget for the Multilingual Learners Program.
  
  
• Essential Function:
  • Direct the continuous improvement efforts for all departmental processes.
  • Conduct multiple projects concurrently, both independently and as a member of a collaborative team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
