Assistant Director Game Operation Jobs (NOW HIRING)

The purpose of the Fan Experience team is to create high-energy, tradition-rich, and unforgettable event atmospheres that inspire Michigan pride, build community, and cultivate lasting fan loyalty - regardless of the final score of a contest.

The Assistant Director, Game Presentation & Fan Experience leads the operational planning, creative development, and live production of assigned athletic events. This role drives audience engagement through innovative event concepts, continuous improvement, brand consistency, state-of-the-art video board production, and collaborative cross-departmental processes.

• Assigned sports will include 3-4 Olympic Sports and may also supervise student interns on additional sports.
• Conceptualize and execute game day activations that enhance the live presentation for assigned sports, including themed promotions, interactive fan elements, video features, sponsor activations, and traditional elements.
• Serve as the live game day producer and primary show caller for assigned sports.
• Produce and write detailed game scripts, public address (PA) scripts, and event execution timelines.
• Create and design video board graphic content, including headshots, feature opens, informational slides, sponsor features, and promotional visuals.
• Curate and manage sport-specific audio and music content tailored to elevate venue energy.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations and growth of the Wolverine Kids Club.
• Schedule and coordinate event entertainment (halftime/intermission acts, national anthem singers, etc.), managing all operational logistics including travel, transportation, parking, credentials, tickets, and rehearsals.
• Manage and schedule game day event staff, including DJs, PA announcers, and student interns.
• Lead the external planning process for assigned sports in collaboration with digital marketing, ticketing, and communications to produce integrated marketing deliverables.
• Increase attendance and drive ticket revenue by collaborating with ticket sales and operations to execute ticket promotions, season ticket holder events, youth clinics, and group sales initiatives.
• Order and purchase promotional items, giveaways, prizes, and merchandise.
• Assist with the development and management of the event production and game presentation budget for assigned sports.
• Coordinate and execute student-focused events and promotions to increase campus involvement and game attendance.
• Perform office and administrative duties, including generating presentations, recaps, mailings, name cards, labels, and event documentation.

• A bachelor's degree is required; a graduate degree is preferred. Minimum of two years of professional experience working in collegiate or professional sports game presentation, live production, or athletic marketing.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to interact with diverse patrons in a positive, professional, and productive manner while strictly adhering to NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and University of Michigan compliance rules.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, Illustrator) preferred.
• Experience operating Ross video board control systems preferred.
• Must be available and willing to work non-standard hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Demonstrated ability to establish strong working relationships with internal and external constituency groups and work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with the flexibility to adapt effectively to changing priorities.
• Experience working with and/or supervising undergraduate student staff.
• Proven ability to work effectively as part of a positive, team-oriented environment.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong commitment to enhancing the student-athlete and fan experience.
