Description

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) serves as a clinical operational liaison between the nursing units and the Director of Nursing. This role supports the daily clinical operations of the nursing department, ensuring compliance with center policies, procedures, and regulations. The ADON helps implement and oversee the care delivery model, mentors nursing staff, coordinates with other departments, and ensures a positive experience for residents and families. In addition to supporting overall clinical operations, the ADON will play a key role in managing and improving the facilityโ€™s wound care program by ensuring timely assessments, documentation, and treatment coordination with the interdisciplinary team. In the absence of the DON, the ADON assumes the duties and responsibilities of the DON.

Required Qualifications
  • Licensure and Experience: Active R.N. license with a minimum of three years of nursing experience, including at least one year in a supervisory role; longโ€‘term care or geriatric experience preferred. Experience in wound care management strongly preferred.
  • Education: BSN preferred, with demonstrated ability to organize and manage nursing services and staff.
  • Communication and Clerical Skills: Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English, with clerical ability to analyze reports and data.
  • Certifications: Current BLS/CPR certification (as required by state regulations).
Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Nursing Department Leadership: Support the Director of Nursing in managing the nursing department, including staffing, scheduling, and enforcing policies.
  • Wound Care Oversight: Lead and coordinate the wound care program by ensuring timely assessments, documentation accuracy, treatment followโ€‘up, and staff education on best practices for wound prevention and healing.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure regulatory compliance, participate in chart audits, and oversee infection control, care planning, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Staff Development and Oversight: Participate in hiring, training, and performance reviews while promoting professional growth and ensuring the delivery of consistent, highโ€‘quality care.
