Job Summary
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Student Assistant to capture and share the stories that bring our campus to life. This role focuses on writing engaging articles and content highlighting campus events, student experiences and community initiatives. The Student Assistant reports directly to the Director of Public Relations.
Responsibilities
  • Attend campus events and activities to gather information, quotes and photos
  • Write compelling stories, recaps and short headlines for web and video
  • Interview students, faculty and staff to highlight diverse perspectives
  • Collaborate with the Director of Public Relations to align messaging and deadlines
  • Assist with proofreading and editing as needed
  • Maintain a consistent voice and style aligned with the institution's brand

Required Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Georgia Gwinnett College.
  • Must be in good academic standing and maintain good academic standing for the duration of employment.
  • Must be in good conduct standing with Georgia Gwinnett College and maintain good conduct for the duration of employment.
  • Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills
  • Interest in journalism, communications, marketing or related field
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple assignments

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with AP style and institutional writing guidelines
