Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Development will independently build upon and maintain a portfolio of prospects, directly soliciting gifts to support the CNSM, create relationships with college alumni, prospects, donors, and external community members, steward the CNSM, donors, and provide project management, assistance and support at alumni, donor and prospect events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, build and maintain a portfolio of donor prospects and solicit annual leadership and major gifts of $250,000+
  • Write thank you letters, design and produce donor centric marketing collateral and publications (e.g., impact reports, proposals, case statements), including digital collateral (e.g., social media, website), and other relevant materials in support of fundraising initiatives.
  • Coordinate cultivation and stewardship activities and board committee activities related to funding development.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

  • Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $5,274 (Step 1) - $6,303 (Step 10) per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
  • CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $5,274 (Step 1) - $7,684 (Step 20) per month.

They are also proficient in Microsoft Office applications, databases, email, webpages, online graphic design tools, and social media, enabling them to effectively support fundraising and organizational goals.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience required.

Higher Education and fundraising experience preferred.

Licenses / Certificates

Valid California driver's license required.

Employees who are required to operate motorized vehicles and/or use their personal vehicle more than once a month on University business are required to take a mandatory Defensive Driving course and enroll in the DMV Employee Pull Notice (EPN) Program.

Physical Summary

Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects (10 pounds or less).

CSULB is not a sponsoring agency for staff and management positions (i.e. H-1B Visas).

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSULB will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
