Job description

Assistant Designer - Licensed Apparel
Soni's client, a growing apparel company specializing in branded and private label programs, is seeking a talented Assistant Designer to join its creative team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong technical design skills who is eager to grow within a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Experience with licensing approvals is a plus, but comprehensive training will be provided.
Responsibilities:
  • Partner with Designers throughout the seasonal development process.
  • Conduct competitive shopping and assist in preparing seasonal color cards.
  • Create detailed tech packs for sampling and production.
  • Develop front and back technical sketches.
  • Produce CADs, prints, graphics, and presentation boards for line reviews.
  • Prepare production-ready artwork files for placement graphics and all-over prints (AOPs) when needed.
  • Collaborate with production to review lab dips, strike-offs, trims, and production samples, ensuring design intent is maintained throughout development.

Licensing & Brand Approval Coordination:
  • (Training Provided)
  • Assign style numbers for new products.
  • Submit concepts, strike-offs, pre-production samples, and production samples for licensor approvals.
  • Track approvals and proactively follow up with licensors throughout the development process.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for licensor communications, including artwork approvals, style guide compliance, and brand standards.
  • Coordinate and participate in licensor meetings and creative review calls.
  • Manage licensor forecasts and sales reporting on a monthly or quarterly basis.
  • Partner with Accounting to assist with royalty reporting and SKU verification.

Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years of apparel design or assistant design experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop on a Mac platform.
  • Experience creating CADs, technical sketches, and tech packs.
  • Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team-oriented with a proactive attitude and willingness to learn.

Qualifications:
  • Experience working with licensed consumer products or branded apparel.
  • Familiarity with placement graphics and all-over print (AOP) artwork.
  • Exposure to apparel product development from prototype through production.
