Middle School Volleyball Coach

Location: Newton Country Day School
Season: Fall 2026
Start Date: August 30, 2026
End Date: November 5, 2026
Compensation: $3,000 Seasonal Stipend
Schedule: Approximately 8 hours per week (Practices held 3 days per week, plus games as scheduled)
Transportation Required: Yes (must be willing and able to drive school vehicles)

About the Role

Newton Country Day School is seeking passionate, energetic, and encouraging Middle School Volleyball Coaches to lead and develop student-athletes during the Fall 2026 season. This is an excellent opportunity for coaches who enjoy teaching the fundamentals of volleyball while creating a positive, inclusive, and mission-driven environment where young athletes can grow in confidence, teamwork, and leadership.

The ideal candidate will inspire a love for the game by emphasizing skill development, sportsmanship, and personal growth while supporting the values and mission of Newton Country Day School and Falcon Athletics.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and lead engaging volleyball practices three days per week, focused on teaching fundamental skills, game strategy, and player development.
  • Coach all middle school games and practices while aligning with the philosophy and goals of the overall volleyball program.
  • Teach serving, passing, setting, hitting, blocking, defensive positioning, and team concepts appropriate for middle school athletes.
  • Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive team culture that promotes confidence, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
  • Mentor student-athletes of varying experience and skill levels, encouraging both athletic and personal growth.
  • Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, the Athletics Department, and school administration.
  • Safely transport student-athletes by driving school vehicles to practices and competitions, when needed.
  • Uphold and model the values of Sacred Heart education and the mission of Falcon Athletics.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Qualifications
  • Previous volleyball coaching or competitive playing experience preferred.
  • Experience working with middle school-aged athletes is strongly preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to create a supportive, development-focused environment for athletes of all ability levels.
  • Valid driver's license with the willingness and ability to drive school vehicles.
  • Commitment to student-athlete development, sportsmanship, and inclusive coaching practices.
  • Ability to pass all required background checks and meet school employment requirements.
