Job description

Build something that matters.
At Delta Star the work we do has a real impact. Every transformer we build helps deliver reliable electricity to homes, businesses, and communities across North America.
As we continue to grow, we are looking for people who want more than just a job. We are looking for individuals who want to learn, contribute, solve challenges, and build a meaningful career alongside a team that is committed to delivering power at all times.
This position can be based in Lynchburg VA or Charlotte, NC with hybrid work options available. Highly qualified candidates outside these locations may be considered for remote employment; however, they must be able to travel as needed for the role and work onsite at one of our office locations. To meet the travel requirements of the position, remote candidates must have convenient access to a major commercial airport with consistent flight availability.
Summary
Delta Star Inc. is seeking a strategic and technically skilled Cyber Security Manager to lead and evolve our enterprise cybersecurity program. This role is responsible for protecting Delta Star's information systems, operational technology (OT) environments, and sensitive business data while ensuring security initiatives align with business objectives, customer requirements, and risk management priorities. If you are passionate about cybersecurity leadership, risk reduction, and building resilient organizations, we want to hear from you!
What You'll Do
As the Cyber Security Manager, you will own Delta Star's cybersecurity strategy, governance framework, and security operations oversight. You'll partner with business leaders, IT, Engineering, and Operations teams to strengthen security across both traditional IT systems and manufacturing environments. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on oversight of security operations, risk management, incident response, and compliance activities.
A Day in the Life
Your day may include reviewing cybersecurity risks with executive leadership, coordinating vulnerability remediation efforts, overseeing security monitoring activities, or partnering with Engineering to secure manufacturing systems. You'll evaluate emerging threats, guide incident response activities, support business continuity planning, and ensure security controls remain aligned with business needs. You'll also work closely with internal stakeholders and external service providers to continuously improve Delta Star's security posture.
Specific Duties
  • Develop and execute Delta Star's enterprise cybersecurity strategy and roadmap.
  • Establish and govern security policies, standards, and control frameworks across the organization.
  • Own and maintain the enterprise cyber risk register, prioritizing risks based on business impact and operational requirements.
  • Lead security architecture initiatives to ensure secure-by-design principles are embedded across projects and systems.
  • Protect IT systems, OT environments, and sensitive business information.
  • Oversee security operations, including monitoring, threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability management.
  • Lead business continuity and disaster recovery planning, testing, and resilience initiatives.
  • Conduct and oversee risk assessments of systems, operations, and third-party providers.
  • Ensure compliance with customer, industry, and regulatory cybersecurity requirements.
  • Manage cybersecurity service providers, including SOC and SIEM partners.
  • Develop and deliver enterprise security awareness and training programs.
  • Advise executive leadership on cybersecurity risks, program performance, and investment priorities.
  • Partner with Operations and Engineering teams to secure manufacturing technologies, including SCADA systems, PLCs, and robotics.
  • Direct security reviews of applications, infrastructure, and third-party vendors.
  • Lead audit responses and cybersecurity assessments.
  • Define, track, and report cybersecurity metrics that drive continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced cybersecurity leader who can effectively balance business needs, risk management, and technical security requirements. The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem-solver who can communicate complex cybersecurity issues in clear business terms and drive meaningful security outcomes across the enterprise.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of cybersecurity, information security, or risk management experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience leading teams, programs, or enterprise-wide cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Professional security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, GIAC, or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% as needed.

Skills & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity disciplines, including security operations, risk management, governance, and security architecture.
  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and related industry standards.
  • Experience securing both IT and Operational Technology (OT) environments.
  • Ability to translate technical cybersecurity risks into business impact and executive-level recommendations.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong incident response, vulnerability management, and threat mitigation expertise.
  • Experience managing third-party security providers and services.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on program execution.
