In this role, you will work directly with our sales team and homeowners to develop custom single-family architectural plans using Revit, while ensuring designs meet homeowner agreements, applicable codes, community requirements, and Design Tech Homes standards.

What You'll Do

  • Meet with sales team and homeowners to design and develop custom single-family architectural plans using Revit.
  • Complete all phases of custom home plans while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Review community codes and requirements to ensure plans are compliant for permitting and Architectural Control Committee (ACC) approvals.
  • Apply current building codes and applicable requirements to custom residential plans.
  • Check plans for accuracy, regulatory compliance, internal standards, and design specifications.
  • Communicate project status and anticipated schedule changes to the Design and/or Assistant Design Manager.
  • Read and understand construction drawings and structural engineering plans.
  • Participate in team meetings, field visits, training, and other scheduled events.
  • Support the Design Department in resolving issues that arise during the completion of projects.
  • Perform administrative duties and other responsibilities as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • College or technical degree in Architectural Design, Construction, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in residential design and construction drawings.
  • Proficiency with Revit and 3D design software.
  • Experience with software such as VisionRez, AutoCAD, Architectural Desktop, SketchUp, and/or other industry-standard 3D software.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and structural engineering plans.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work effectively in a deadline-sensitive environment.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this position means consistently delivering accurate, code-compliant custom home plans within the Design Department's established time frames while maintaining clear communication with the team and homeowners.

Why This Role Matters

Every custom home begins with a plan. Your work will help transform a homeowner's ideas into a set of architectural plans that can ultimately become the home they envisioned.
