Job description

The Department of English (www.carthage.edu/english) invites applications for part-time instructors to teach introductory and general education courses in literature and creative writing. All areas of specialization are welcome, especially African-American literature, Asian-American literature, and prose fiction writing.

Required Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have a master's degree in English or a closely related field.
  • A PhD or ABD in English is preferred for literature courses.
  • Creative writing courses require a master's degree or equivalent professional experience; a PhD or MFA is preferred.
  • Previous teaching experience is highly desired.
