Job description

DESIGN & PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR, LEATHEROLOGY

This is a hybrid position working at the office in Carrollton, TX three days a week.

Leatherology is looking for a Design & Product Development Coordinator with a sharp eye for detail, a natural instinct for organization, and the drive to keep things on track in a fast-moving environment. You'll play a hands-on role in how a product goes from first concept to launch, with real exposure to every stage along the way.

We're looking for someone genuinely passionate about accessories, design, and style, with a real point of view on what makes something look and feel premium. You'll learn the craft from the inside, reporting to and working closely with our Founder & Creative Director.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Design & Studio Support

  • Build a close, trusted working relationship with the Creative Director, developing a genuine understanding of the brand's aesthetic vision and design standards.

  • Research and compile design references for concept development: silhouettes, hardware, finishes, construction details, and competitive products. Maintain seasonal inspiration boards for products in development.

  • Manage day-to-day sample coordination — ordering, tracking, cataloging, and archiving samples, and keeping the studio organized and easy to work from so the right pieces are always ready for review.

Product Development Coordination

  • Help manage the development calendar: flag upcoming deadlines, track open items, and follow up proactively so nothing falls through the cracks.

  • Assist with product development from concept through final confirmation, supporting sketch reviews and helping translate design intent and corrections into clear spec sheets and communications.

  • Prepare and maintain spec sheets, ensuring every detail — leathers, hardware, dimensions, finishes — is accurately documented and current, with meticulous records in both digital and physical formats.

  • Handle day-to-day factory and vendor correspondence under the guidance of the Creative Director, helping keep development timelines and production schedules on track.

  • Support product QC. Partner with our in-house customer service team and warehouse teams to stay close to customer product feedback — using it to quickly identify any issues and work to resolve.

Material & Vendor Management

  • Assist with sourcing and ordering leather, hardware, packaging, and other components alongside our vendor partners.

  • Organize and maintain our leather and material libraries, the reference point for everything we make.

  • Create and maintain digital records including Material Data Sheets (MDS), style confirmations, running change logs, and design handoffs.

  • Help keep trim, hardware, packaging, and logo standards consistent across the line.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of experience in product development, design, production, or project coordination. Internship and co-op experience counts.

  • Strong design sensibility and a genuine appreciation for the Leatherology aesthetic. This is essential. A portfolio, lookbook, or any visual examples that demonstrate your point of view are highly encouraged and do not need to be accessories related.

  • Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented with an obsessive eye for quality. You're the person who catches the thing everyone else missed.

  • Strong written communication. Your emails to a factory are clear, specific, and easy to act on.

  • Creative, self-motivated, positive, and eager to learn with a "whatever it takes" attitude.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience with Figma or Photoshop is a plus, as is a willingness to leverage AI tools to work smarter.

  • Willingness to travel periodically, domestically or internationally, if needed.
