Job description

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:This position is computer data entry and varied clerical work of a responsible nature which includes responsibility for timely processing of cases and document preparation. Duties are performed in accordance with well-established methods and procedures established in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas and the Code of Judicial Conduct.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Computer data entry including coding citations, creating electronic file, scanning documents, updating status and utilizing computer to produce documents. Assist citizens at customer service window as needed accepting cash receipts for payment of fines and bonds, receipting for credit for time served, driver safety course and scheduling appearances before the judge when required, explaining options and court procedures, extensions, answering phone and taking messages. Assist citizens, police officers and other city departments wishing to file charges by reviewing specific fact situations, preparing complaint and administering oath for same. Prepares past due notices, files failure to appear cases, prepares summons and warrants for the Judge and updates case history as required. Prepares and transmits referral of cases to outside agency for collection when appropriate. Daily balancing of cash drawer and prepares deposit in absence of court administrator. Assists with the preparation of case files for arraignment hearings and attends court in absence of court administrator. Participation in TCCA certification program and annual training is mandatory. Some travel required for training.
Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED. 3 years of computer data entry and clerical work experience of responsible nature. Ability to make moderately complex decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures. Excellent customer service skills required. Must obtain Texas Court Clerk's Certification and attend annual continuing education.
