Salary: $70,000-$80,000ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 

ย  Position Purpose:

Support development and growth through innovation, efficiency, and creative packaging design. As a Structural Designer, you will act as a creative strategist leading the design of products and packaging from concept to completion. You will collaborate with customers and sales to create designs for new products, existing products, and develop products for new uses in the marketplace. Our designers are assigned projects which can be complex in nature and will require you to adapt procedures, processes, and techniques to accomplish the requirements for each project.

Position Description
Duties & Responsibilities

Tasks related to this position may vary and are not limited to those listed below:

  • Follow established safety rules, policies and procedures at all times.
  • Apply advanced design skills in the creation of designs for packaging and/or point of service displays for new and existing products.
  • Work with vendors on tooling, ink, and various design/production supplies.
  • Problem-solve with all departments to support efficient and safe manufacturing processes.
  • Full-time role in an office/design department setting.
Structural Design
  • Develop and design structural solutions for corrugated packaging and displays.
  • Evaluate customer needs and expectations and translate them into drawings, designs, and prototypes.
  • Leverage expertise and knowledge of corrugated facility and machinery, board combinations, retailers' wants and needs, and customer's capabilities to inform product design.
  • Work with customer service and production team on creating and maintaining schematics vital to the workflow of manufacturing.
  • Design, manufacture and ship corrugated samples for the sales team and customers.
Graphic Design
  • Create, adjust, and prepare art files for a wide array of printing methods.
  • Work with other departments to create innovative graphics solutions.
Sales and Marketing
  • Assist in the growth of business by developing relationships with customers and working with sales to effectively use design as a sales tool.
  • Assist sales with new business growth opportunities.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Check in and service tooling such as cutting dies and printing plates.
  • Travel will be required between divisions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Desired Skills & Behavioral Strengths
  • Proficiency with Artios CAD software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (primarily Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry is a plus.
  • CAD table experience.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, trouble-shooting and creative abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Desired Qualifications & Experience
  • Associate or bachelor's degree from accredited university with an emphasis in structural/packaging design and/or graphic design.
  • 3 to 5 years or more of packaging and/or product design experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proven track record of critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Aptitude for 3D visualization and design.
  • Attention to detail with ability to rapidly change focus between tasks and projects.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Results-oriented and able to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Mathematically inclined.
