Job description


We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Metallurgical Lab Technician to join our team on a direct hire basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in metallurgical testing, laboratory operations, and material analysis, preferably in the tubular or steel manufacturing industry. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment while ensuring quality and compliance with industry standards.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Perform metallurgical testing on materials and tubular products (tensile, impact, hardness, etc.) in accordance with regulatory and customer specifications.
  • Analyze test results and maintain accurate documentation according to company procedures.
  • Identify and report nonconforming materials to the Lab Supervisor/Metallurgist.
  • Operate and maintain lab equipment, including band saws, surface grinders, mounting/polishing machines, and microscopes.
  • Participate in lab improvement initiatives and 5S activities to ensure a safe and organized work environment.
  • Assist in training new laboratory technicians on testing procedures and equipment operation.
  • Adhere to all safety rules, quality standards, and company policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Quality Manager or Lab Supervisor.
Job Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing or related fields.
  • Experience in a metallurgical lab testing tubular products preferred.
  • Knowledge of material preparation processes (CNC machining, grinding, polishing, etc.).
  • Familiarity with tubular and/or steel manufacturing preferred.
  • Understanding of API, ASTM, TS, ISO standards, and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail, adaptability, and time management skills.
  • SAP and general computer knowledge (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
