Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic, growth-minded Controller to lead the financial and accounting operations. This role requires a professional who thrives in high-volume, multi-unit environment. The Controller will be responsible for the oversight, preparation, analysis, and distribution of the company’s consolidated financial statements. The controller will produce financial status reports to help improve our operational efficiency and aid in our continued growth. The Controller will work directly with ownership, external CPA firms, and branch management while leading the accounting team consisting of billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and staff accounting personnel.
 
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Reporting
  • Manage the month end closing process and ensure all balance sheets and P&L are reconciled in a timely manner
  • Bank Reconciliations
  • Prepare Sales Tax Returns and Jurisdictional Returns
  • Daily Balancing to ensure all has been posted
  • Maintain annual filings
  • Manage each line of credit
  • Pay for purchased equipment and process is EBS
  • Manage bank accounts
  • Research tax depreciation software to have the ability to track all fixed assets
  • Maintain internal control safeguards for all company assets
  • Lead all accounting operations across multiple entities and locations.
  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Produce business unit reporting for each branch and division.
  • Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to ownership.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the company's external CPA firms, tax advisors, auditors, bankers, insurance brokers, and other financial partners.
  • Coordinate annual tax preparation, tax planning, financial statement reviews and regulatory filings across all entities.
  • Establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standings.
  • Implement Consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, upholding federal, state, and local legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation.
  • Work closely with ownership and external advisors to evaluate tax strategies, entity structures, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of all financial information requested by outside accounting firms and lending institutions and assist with all audits.
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range strategic planning with ownership and outside advisors.
  • Oversee banking relationships and credit facilities.
  • Optimize cash management strategies across multiple entities.
  • Evaluate financing opportunities for equipment and growth initiatives.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, including:
    • Accounts Receivable
    • Accounts Payable
    • Staff Accountant(s)
  • Establish processes and controls that improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Partner with operational leadership to improve overall financial understanding.
  • Develop future accounting talent and build a high-performing finance team.
Strategic Growth
  • Support acquisitions, branch expansions, and new business initiatives.
  • Participate in strategic planning with ownership.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
  • Help build the financial infrastructure necessary for continued growth.
 
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree (or Equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting and financial management experience.
  • 2+ years in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior accounting leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • GL Accounting
    • Revenue recognition
    • Multi-entity accounting
    • Multi-location operations
  • Experience managing accounting teams.
  • Strong Excel and financial reporting skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both field and office leadership.
  • Ability to multitask at a high level and reprioritize multiple times a day in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Advanced ability to solve problems and make sound decisions during high pressure situations.
Preferred
  • CPA designation.
  • Experience with equipment-intensive businesses.
  • Experience supporting multiple legal entities.
  • Experience with EBS accounting software.
