We have an exciting Assistant Controller opportunity in our Kansas City office. In this highly impactful role, you will be responsible for all financial reporting duties of Seaboard Foods. This position supports the Controller in the management of all accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, month-end close activities, budgeting support, compliance, and continuous process improvement. The Assistant Controller provides daily supervision and leadership to the accounting team while ensuring adherence to the Company's accounting policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list is not intended to be all-inclusive, and other duties may be assigned.
  • Performs the monthly consolidation for Seaboard Foods in accordance with US GAAP, for submission to Seaboard Corporate accounting for SEC reporting.
  • Oversees daily invoicing and billing procedures.
  • Evaluates transactions and new accounting guidance to determine appropriate accounting treatment and prepares technical memos to support the Company's positions.
  • Performs accounting function for affiliate Seaboard Organics
  • Facilitates compliance with internal and external audit requests
  • Provides direct oversight of the Seaboard Foods centralized Accounts Payable function
  • Manages the day-to-day operation of the Seaboard Transportation and Seaboard Foods Renewable Natural Gas accounting functions.
  • Oversees the company's lease accounting compliance under ASC842.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance required, Master's degree preferred.
  • CPA required.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • 8+ years progressive accounting experience required.
  • 4+ Years of progressive Supervisor/Leadership experience of an accounting department required
  • Advanced working knowledge of Excel is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Adaptable to change, able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
