Elliman Capital | Associated Mortgage Bankers, Inc. (NMLS #24794)

Miami, FL 33137 | Full-Time | Hybrid | $100,000 – $120,000 base, plus bonus and benefits

About Elliman Capital

Elliman Capital is the integrated lending arm of Douglas Elliman and operates as a division of Associated Mortgage Bankers, Inc. We are licensed in nine states and continuing to expand our platform and our team.

We are seeking a Controller to oversee accounting operations across both Elliman Capital and Associated Mortgage Bankers, and to grow into leadership of the accounting department as the company scales. This position reports directly to executive leadership and works closely with our Operations, Human Resources, Compliance, and Marketing leaders from our Miami office.

The opportunity here is a distinctive one: the autonomy and influence of building a function from the ground up, supported by the resources and reputation of an established, publicly traded organization.

Responsibilities

Payroll and Compensation

  • Full-cycle multi-state payroll processing in ADP for salaried employees, commission-based loan originators, and contractors
  • Build, calculate, audit, and process tiered originator commission plans
  • Multi-state payroll tax registration and reporting

Accounting Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable, and bank reconciliations
  • Manage full-cycle accounts payable: invoice approvals, vendor payments, expense coding, and corporate credit card reconciliation
  • Coordinate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close

Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Management reporting to executive leadership and our parent organization
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
  • Monitor cash flow and assist with treasury management

Audit, Tax, and Regulatory

  • Lead annual financial audits and coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals
  • State banking department examinations across our licensed footprint
  • NMLS Mortgage Call Reports, annual financial condition and net worth filings
  • Warehouse line and investor reporting
  • Coordinate tax preparation

Process and Internal Controls

  • Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with company policy and regulatory requirements
  • Partner with Human Resources and Compliance to develop and document procedures that support a growing platform
Qualifications

Required:

  • Mortgage banking or mortgage lending accounting experience
  • Experience administering commission or incentive compensation programs
  • Hands-on payroll experience; ADP strongly preferred
  • Multi-state payroll and tax registration experience
  • Five or more years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

Preferred:

  • Human Resources or benefits administration experience
  • Regulatory examination experience
  • Familiarity with secondary marketing concepts
  • Experience with Encompass, nCino, or Optimal Blue

Candidates who meet the core mortgage accounting and commission administration requirements are encouraged to apply, even if they do not meet every preferred qualification.

What We Offer
  • A clearly defined path to leading the accounting department as the platform grows
  • Direct reporting relationship to executive leadership and meaningful influence over how the company operates
  • The opportunity to build financial systems, controls, and procedures that will support the organization for years to come
  • Affiliation with one of the most recognized brands in residential real estate
  • Hybrid schedule — four days per week alongside a collaborative team in our Miami office, with Fridays remote
  • Base salary of $100,000 – $120,000, commensurate with experience, plus performance bonus eligibility and a comprehensive benefits package

This is a hands-on, high-impact role in a growing organization. The right candidate is someone who is energized by building infrastructure rather than maintaining it.
