Job description

Description:

At Siltstone Power, we're helping accelerate the transition to clean energy by investing in renewable energy infrastructure that creates long-term value for our investors, our partners, and our communities.

Backed by private equity and experiencing significant growth, we're building the financial systems and processes needed to support a growing portfolio of businesses. We're looking for an Assistant Controller who enjoys ownership, thrives in a collaborative environment, and wants the opportunity to help shape how accounting supports a growing organization.

If you're looking for a role where your ideas matter, your work has visibility, and you'll partner directly with executive leadership, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do

Reporting directly to the CFO, you'll serve as the operational leader of accounting. You'll own the day-to-day accounting function, strengthen financial processes, and ensure accurate, timely reporting across multiple entities.

Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting

  • Lead the monthly close process from start to finish
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and manage intercompany accounting
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation
  • Support internal controls and accounting best practices

Construction & Project Accounting

  • Maintain project job costing and financial tracking
  • Prepare Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules
  • Apply percentage-of-completion accounting
  • Partner with project managers and operations leaders to ensure accurate project financials

Accounts Receivable, Payable & Treasury

  • Oversee customer billing and collections
  • Review vendor invoices and subcontractor payments
  • Manage vendor records, credit card reconciliations, expense reporting, and annual 1099
  • Perform bank reconciliations and manage daily cash activity and intercompany transfers

Process Improvement & Growth

  • Help develop scalable accounting processes as the organization grows
  • Partner with the CFO on process improvements and financial initiatives
  • Collaborate with external partners on tax and compliance matters
  • Contribute to ERP optimization and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements:

What You Bring

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and taking ownership of their work.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience within construction, electrical contracting, renewable energy, or other project-based industries
  • Strong understanding of job costing, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion accounting
  • Experience working in multi-entity organizations
  • Experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP system
  • CPA or CPA-track is welcomed but not required
  • You'll be especially successful if you're someone who:
  • Takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work
  • Thinks beyond transactions to improve systems and processes
  • Communicates effectively with both finance and operations teams
  • Can balance multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail
  • Enjoys working independently while collaborating across departments

Why Join Siltstone Power?

This is more than an accounting role—it's an opportunity to help build the financial foundation of a growing organization.

You'll enjoy:

  • Direct partnership with the CFO and executive leadership
  • Meaningful ownership and autonomy
  • Exposure to multiple operating companies within a growing portfolio
  • The opportunity to build scalable processes instead of simply maintaining them
  • A collaborative, entrepreneurial environment where your ideas are valued
  • A mission-driven company focused on advancing clean energy

Compensation & Benefits

We believe our people are our greatest investment and offer a competitive total rewards package, including:

  • Competitive salary of $95,000-$125,000, based on experience
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Supplemental insurance options
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Generous Paid Time Off
  • Hybrid work flexibility
  • Professional development opportunities
  • The opportunity to grow alongside a rapidly expanding organization

Physical Requirements

This position is primarily office-based and requires the ability to:

  • Remain stationary for extended periods while working at a computer.
  • Frequently operate a computer, keyboard, telephone, and other standard office equipment.
  • Communicate effectively in person, by phone, and through virtual meetings.
  • Occasionally move about the office to access files, equipment, and meeting spaces.
  • Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds, such as files, office supplies, or equipment.
  • Travel occasionally for meetings, training, or company events, as needed.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

Ready to Help Build What's Next?

If you're excited by the opportunity to combine strong accounting fundamentals with process improvement and business partnership—and you're looking to grow with an organization that's building something meaningful—we encourage you to apply.

Even if you don't meet every qualification, we'd still love to hear from you. Research consistently shows that many qualified candidates hesitate to apply unless they meet every requirement. If this opportunity excites you, we encourage you to apply.
